Chapter 85 People Can Lie, but Evidence Doesn't
After watching the video, Luna called Summer and gave her a quick rundown of the day's events.
Summer was livid when she heard.
"Luna, if you need anything, just let me know. Anyone who messes with you and Eric is messing with me. My friends don't get slandered like that!" Summer said.
Summer wasn't about to let Luna get bullied. She was determined to help Luna fight back.
"Summer, I have transaction records, group chat screenshots, and photos of the room where Eric and I stayed at Ella's house. I need to gather a bit more evidence before we strike back. If we're going to retaliate, we need to make it count."
Luna already had a plan. Even though this was her first time dealing with something like this, she knew from when her aunt swindled her parents' pension that she had to keep important evidence.
'People can lie, but evidence doesn't,' Luna thought.
She just needed to figure out why Alice didn't want the pension back then.
"If you need to gather evidence, I can help. Don't be foolish and fight alone. Your relatives have no bottom line. The more people, the stronger we are."
Summer knew Luna's personality. She liked to handle things on her own and didn't like to trouble others. So Summer told her upfront to prevent her from bearing it alone.
"I'll listen to you, Summer. Actually, I suspect my dad isn't my grandma's biological son, so she didn't take my dad's pension, maybe fearing my real grandparents would get involved."
Luna's words shocked Summer.
"Then who are your grandparents?" Summer asked.
Luna continued, "I need time to find out. I remember my mom saying that my dad didn't look like my grandparents at all."
"When my dad was just ten months old, my grandma left him to work. He fell off the bed, got his head stuck between the bed and the table, and cried for hours."
"It wasn't until my grandparents came home that they found him. That time, my dad almost cried himself to death, and he got a scar on his forehead. This was mentioned by an old neighbor of my grandma's. But after having other children, my grandma always took care of them herself. She would never leave a ten-month-old baby at home for half a day."
"As for the online video, it's clearly edited. I suspect Ethan had someone do it. He handled publicity at the company and knew many people who shoot and edit videos."
Luna already had a direction for her investigation. In the next few days, she would appear to be lying low. When they thought she was completely defeated, she would strike back.
After hanging up with Summer, Luna was about to return to the ward to see Eric when she saw a few nurses at the corner pointing at her.
"Isn't that the ungrateful granddaughter? Last night, she was so worried about Eric, I thought she was a great sister! Turns out she's using Eric to gain sympathy!"
"Yeah, I heard she's living with some thug! She's even using the pension her parents worked so hard for to support a thug! She looks pretty, but she's got no brains!"
"Girls these days think they can get by on their looks forever! Now that she's been exposed, let's see how she lives from now on! Who would want a girl like that?"
The two nurses' voices grew louder and louder. Luna didn't want to argue now. She thought once she presented the evidence, these people would naturally shut up.
Just as she was about to open the door and go back in, Eric wheeled himself out of the room.
"What are you talking about! Luna would never use me! She's been wronged!" Eric shouted emotionally, his voice hoarse from yelling.
