Chapter 77 That Day Probably Won't Come, Right?
Luna helped Eric adjust his clothes and continued,"Upon moving into Ella's residence, Alice incessantly lamented about her perceived unfairness regarding the funeral costs. Consequently, she made my stay challenging, frequently uniting with my aunt against me. It took me some time to grasp the dynamics at play."
"But during that time, Eric's health kept having issues, and I caught pneumonia from taking care of him. I had to make do and let Eric stay there. On weekends, I would take him to see doctors and get treatment."
"Initially, I appreciated Alice for not accepting my father's funeral expenses and pension a few years back. Yet, it has dawned on me of late that there must be a hidden rationale behind her refusal. Unfortunately, they have remained tight-lipped about this matter to me."
Luna candidly shared her past struggles and helpless choices.
She didn't go into detail that when she couldn't get a cab in the rain, she gave her coat to Eric and stood in the pouring rain all night until a kind driver took them home. She got pneumonia and a high fever and was sick for a month.
She omitted the incident where she collapsed in the dormitory due to low blood sugar from her strenuous efforts in crafting, causing Summer and Emily to panic, believing her condition to be grave and insisting on rushing her to the emergency room while in tears.
Charles began to understand Luna a bit.
After all, she was only twenty-three this year. When her parents had their accident, she was still a teenager, yet she had to take on adult responsibilities and care for a ten-year-old brother.
Sensing the heavy atmosphere in the car, Luna changed to a more upbeat song.
Charles glanced at her profile, finding her features delicate and striking.
He had always known she was beautiful, even without looking closely.
Now, upon closer inspection, he realized Luna had a multifaceted beauty.
She had both a delicate and lively side, as well as a serene and warm aura.
Charles felt a subtle stir somewhere.
By the time they got home, it was already past ten. Charles didn't let Luna wake Eric but carried him upstairs himself.
Luna followed with the wheelchair, explaining as they walked.
"Eric's condition makes him easily tired and sleepy, and it's hard to wake him once he's asleep."
Charles nodded, "Have you consulted any specialists?"
"I attempted it previously with Summer's aid. Unfortunately, this uncommon ailment lacks an efficient remedy, even in foreign lands."
"Eric was deemed fortunate. He exhibited slight cognitive limitations initially, but subsequent intervention therapies proved successful."
"He possessed a knack for drawing and adored reading, thus he is fortunate. However, his physical state has deteriorated, manifesting in a gradual weakening of his limbs."
"I have a friend acquainted with experts in this domain. I will facilitate your connection."
Charles said as they reached the door. Luna opened it and let him and Eric in first.
"Thank you in advance."
Charles nodded. After putting Eric down, he went to the balcony.
While Luna was in Eric's room, Charles called Max.
"Max, get in touch with specialists who can treat Eric's condition and invite them to Bright City for a consultation. Also, prepare a prenuptial agreement. When I notify you, bring it over and act as a witness."
Charles was arranging for Eric's treatment on one hand and preparing a prenuptial agreement with Luna on the other hand.
He understood Luna's choices but didn't mean he liked her. Things still needed to be clear.
"Yes, Mr. Lee."
Max agreed and hung up, but he couldn't help but wonder.
Being a witness didn't seem like a problem, but if Mr. Lee and Luna ended up together, wouldn't his role as a witness be awkward?
It felt like he would be a third wheel between Mr. Lee and Ms. Brown.
Hopefully, that day would never come!
