Chapter 128 This Time Ashley Really Misjudged
Anna's face changed the moment she saw Ashley. Max, lurking in the shadows, smirked. 'With acting skills like that, she should be in Hollywood.'
Ashley didn't recognize Anna right away. It wasn't until Anna took off her sunglasses that Ashley realized who she was.
"Mrs..."
A staff member started to call out Mrs. Lee, but Ashley raised her hand to stop her. The staff member wisely stepped back and stayed quiet.
"Anna, what are you doing here?" Ashley asked kindly.
Ashley had left something in the car. She didn't bring her maid or butler today and had driven a regular business car to keep a low profile. She had parked at the hotel entrance and came down herself to retrieve it, worried Vincent might not find it.
To her surprise, she spotted Anna standing there as soon as she stepped out of the elevator.
"Auntie, remember I told you my account was hacked by a friend and she posted something? She's been avoiding me, and I heard she would be here for dinner. I couldn't find her, but I saw you entering the elevator."
Anna still looked as innocent and aggrieved as ever.
Ashley glanced at the entrance, worried that Charles and Luna might run into them, so she pulled Anna to a corner.
"Anna, I know you're upset, but you should head home and get some rest. You can't find her today, there will be other opportunities. Let's talk about it tomorrow. I have something urgent to take care of here and can't stay with you right now."
This was a polite way of asking Anna to leave. Anna couldn't keep playing dumb, as Ashley was her only support at the moment.
"Auntie, please don't worry about me. I won't disturb you. Since I can't find that person, I'll head back now. You go ahead and attend to your own matters."
Anna didn't mention that she knew Ashley was using a private elevator. Since Ashley wanted to keep it a secret, it meant she was still testing her.
She had to keep up the act.
Ashley waited until Anna was far away before heading to the parking lot to get her things.
In the shadows, Max recorded the entire interaction, ready to show it to Charles if necessary.
'This Anna must be the one Mrs. Lee had chosen as a potential match for Mr. Lee!'
'But Mrs. Ashley Lee has really misjudged this time!'
'This Anna seems so untrustworthy!' Max thought.
As Anna left the hotel, Charles's car happened to pull in.
Anna caught a glimpse of the passing BYD out of the corner of her eye and sneered. "Who actually drives a car like that to HarmonyHaven Hotel for dinner?"
But the driver's profile looked somewhat familiar.
It resembled the photo of Charles that Ashley had shown her before.
But wasn't Charles a company executive? Shouldn't he be driving a BMW, Benz, or Audi?
Charles parked the car, helped Luna with Eric, and the three of them entered the lobby. The lobby manager, seeing Charles, felt a lump in his throat and quickly greeted them with a smile, following Max's instructions.
"Mr. Lee, your private room is ready. Please follow me."
The lobby manager remembered Max's instructions that he mustn't call him President Lee.
Luna nodded at the lobby manager and followed Charles into the private elevator. The elevator staff had already cleared out in advance.
Luna didn't pay much attention to which floor the elevator stopped at. But she was too taken aback by how different it felt compared to other hotels.
It was exceptionally spacious, luxurious, and magnificent.
No wonder it was HarmonyHaven Hotel and even an ordinary elevator felt like a palace.
Eric took out his phone. With Charles's permission, he snapped a few photos to use as references for his drawings.
"Having a meal here must be expensive. We're reallly making you spend a lot," Luna said softly.
Charles's face remained impassive, but he still remembered her interaction with Warren earlier. His voice was cold and indifferent.
"You're busy with work. Make sure to spend more time with Eric on weekends. I know the manager here, so we can get a discount. Plus, my parents, my uncles, and the twin cousins from Uncle Jackie are coming too."
Charles had invited the twins to liven up the atmosphere. With more people their age, Luna and Eric would feel more at ease.
