Chapter 181 Wendy Badmouthed Luna

Wendy lit up at Ella's words, her already animated face becoming even more lively as she gossiped.

"I heard online that this guy works at the Lee Group. Bobby's company works closely with them. I'll get Bobby to dig up some dirt and mess with his job."

"Once he gets fired, he'll blame Luna. His family will think she's bad luck. Let's see how Luna handles that. And that guy won't protect her anymore."

"In the end, Luna will have no choice but to come back to you all." Wendy was practically foaming at the mouth as she spoke.

She thought it was netizens who found out about Charles's job, not knowing Charles had Max leak that info on purpose.

Alice remembered Bobby was an executive at a Fortune 500 company and flattered Wendy, "Wendy, your son became an executive so young. He's really something! If this works, I'll make sure you have all the sea cucumbers you want."

Puffed up with pride, Wendy replied with fake humility, "It's nothing. Bobby just manages a few people."

"A few? I heard he manages hundreds." Alice was secretly jealous.

The best her family had was Marcus, a department manager with only a few dozen people under him.

Wendy's face was momentarily awkward, but she didn't deny it.

Actually, the executive Alice mentioned was another VP with the same name as Bobby, not her son.

But the rumor spread, and many neighbors and relatives came to flatter her. Her vanity got the best of her, and she went along with it.

Wendy replied, "Alice, Ethan's not bad either. That job is stable and has great promotion opportunities."

Alice felt very pleased hearing this.

Only Ella looked worried. She hadn't completed the task Ethan gave her. How would she explain it to him? If worse came to worst, she'd lie and say she handled it to buy some time.

Charles drove Luna around the neighborhood.

Luna thought they were going for a buffet dinner, so she just wanted a light lunch.

She had Charles drive to a convenience store, where she bought two sandwiches and two hot drinks.

"One's tuna, one's ham. Which one do you want?" Luna asked as she shook the sandwiches.

Seeing she planned to eat in the car, Charles glanced at a nearby restaurant but said nothing, waving his hand. "Whatever, it's fine."

It was his first time eating convenience store food; he had no idea what to expect.

"I'll give you the tuna one; it's two bucks more expensive."

Luna smiled, handing the tuna sandwich to Charles.

Charles looked at it, unsure how to open it.

"Mr. Lee, seriously? Never had convenience store food? Aren't they the go-to for busy white-collar workers?"

Despite her teasing, Luna opened the sandwich for him.

Charles took a bite, finding the taste hard to describe.

It was nothing like the tuna salads he was used to.

He had to gulp down his drink to wash it down.

But the drink tasted like artificial sweetener.

Charles couldn't help but shake his head.

He felt a lot of sympathy for those white-collar workers rushing around with a coffee in one hand and a sandwich in the other.
