Chapter 221 Don't Wait Up
"Warren, don't worry. Take care of Summer first. We'll meet at our usual spot."
Luna said just a few words before hanging up the phone. She put down her phone, grabbed her wallet, put on her clothes, and changed her shoes at the entrance.
"Charles, I'm going out for a bit. Can you look after Eric for me? Not sure when I'll be back. I have my keys, so don't wait up."
With that, Luna rushed out the door like a gust of wind.
Charles, with dish soap bubbles still on his hands, heard the door close. His face darkened, and he threw the dish heavily into the sink, looking furious.
During the time he had been living with Luna, she cooked while he washed the dishes.
The Lee family had been a wealthy family for three generations. His grandfather had built the family fortune from scratch and had a military background, imposing strict discipline on his children, managing his father and uncles with military-style training.
His father and uncles were all obedient, with the only exception being his youngest uncle, Danniel Lee.
Seeing many flaws in his educational methods through Danniel, his grandfather focused more on the psychological growth and family atmosphere for Charles's generation.
In the Lee family, even though Charles was the acknowledged heir, he had no special privileges. The family ate together and shared chores. Men cooking and washing dishes was common in the Lee family.
Theodore had told Charles that in family interactions, no one was superior to anyone else. Everyone was equal, and so were the chores. There was no rule that certain tasks were only for women. Men in the Lee family entering the kitchen was not shameful.
On the contrary, those who thought men in the kitchen were failures would never achieve much in life.
Theodore's education for Charles's generation was more diverse, but he didn't know how to teach Charles about relationships.
After all, the concept of love in Charles's generation was entirely different from theirs.
Back then, everything was slow. Waiting for a letter from a loved one could take a month or even longer.
Now, it was different. A Facebook post delivered a message in a second.
Because Theodore wasn't adept at modern views on love, he let Charles figure it out on his own. Unexpectedly, Charles had no interest in it.
Theodore wasn't in a hurry, but Ashley was.
This led to the mix-up of marrying the wrong person.
Charles naturally adapted to living under the same roof with Luna, and unknowingly, he had also let his heart get involved.
Charles dried his hands, frowned, and walked to the living room, noticing that Luna had left in such a hurry that she forgot her phone.
The phone screen was still lit, with two new Facebook messages.
Charles opened them and turned green with anger.
Warren: [Luna, don't worry. I'll wait for you at our usual spot.]
Warren: [Luna, I bought you coffee, your usual flavor.]
Luna rushed out to meet Warren. Did she forget why they argued before?
Charles's hand turned pale as he gripped the phone, his face even more menacing.
Finding out where Luna and Warren's usual spot was wouldn't be difficult.
But reason told him that after nearly a month of living with Luna, he had a good sense of her character.
Though getting to know someone deeply was hard, he had promised when he re-added Luna on Facebook that the previous incident would never happen again.
So this time, he had to stay calm!
Charles sat on the couch, trying to analyze the situation.
Earlier in the kitchen, he seemed to hear Luna mention Summer. Could her meeting with Warren be because of Summer?
But regardless of the reason, the thought of Luna meeting Warren made Charles inexplicably upset.
In his heart, he had long developed special feelings for Luna. He hadn't said anything, waiting to see how Luna felt about him. But those feelings, growing stronger, occupied a crucial place in his heart.
