Chapter 187 How Should I Face This?
Luna saw Paul let go of the girl when he noticed her approaching. He clearly didn't want to be seen by someone he knew.
The girl called Paul a pervert and stormed off. Luna quickly caught up with him.
"Mr. Scott, even if you're quitting, you need to explain things to Joah," Luna said, blocking his way.
Paul raised his hand, signaling her to move. "I have nothing to say!"
"I already told Joah where you are. I know you turned off your phone and canceled your lease. Are you trying to cut ties with your past?" Luna asked calmly.
Paul's eyes dimmed. He didn't want that, but he had his reasons.
"Who's Lily? Family or girlfriend? The girl you stopped looked familiar. Need help finding her?" Luna asked, thinking the girl resembled a prostitute they'd arrested before.
Luna wondered, 'Perhaps the Lily that Paul sought after was involved in a comparable line of work?'
"No need! Move aside! You know my temper!" Paul snapped.
Luna checked her phone; Joah hadn't answered yet. Stopping Paul would cause a scene.
"Tell Joah to give me a few days. I'll explain everything once I find what I'm looking for. Trust me, I'll come back and clear things up, but not now!" Paul said earnestly.
He didn't seem like the carefree Paul she knew.
"Mr. Scott, if you really want to leave, I can't stop you. But I'll tell Joah everything that happened," Luna said.
Paul looked at her with gratitude and exhaustion. "I'm sorry for getting you hurt before," he said, surprising Luna.
Paul had caused trouble before, but he'd never apologized. Luna had to cover for him and got injured, ending up in the hospital.
"Mr. Scott, no matter who you're looking for, face your responsibilities. Our role comes with public duty," Luna said. She didn't alter her view of Paul's errors simply because he offered an apology.
Paul didn't argue, just gave a bitter smile. "Face it? How can I? She's been missing so long... I don't even know if she's alive..." He walked away.
Luna returned to her car, and Joah called. She recounted everything.
"So it's because of Lily. No wonder..." Joah said, understanding why Paul had disappeared.
Joah thought Luna might have a chance to counsel Paul in the future, so he told her everything he knew.
