Chapter 126 Been Through a Breakup?

Luna was glued to her phone and didn't notice what Warren was up to.

"Luna, heads up." Warren reached out, pretending to put a hand on her shoulder, ostensibly to remind her to watch her step.

Luna snapped back to reality and quickly brushed off Warren's hand.

"I'm not that old, and my vision's just fine."

She laughed, trying to put some space between them with a joke.

Whether she was married or not, both she and Warren were in their late twenties. They weren't siblings, so keeping a bit of distance seemed wise.

Back in college, Warren was a wild child. She and Summer often kept an eye on him, giving advice and even taking turns staying up to stop him from sneaking out to race cars. Back then, he was just a rebellious kid to her.

But now, he was a grown man. Despite the sibling-like bond they shared, Luna knew that any close contact could easily be misinterpreted by Warren's future girlfriend.

"Luna, you used to never watch your step while walking and fell all the time. Once, you even fell into a ditch and dragged me in with you."

Warren felt a bit let down when she brushed off his hand but didn't show it.

"You were a real mess back then. But don't worry, I won't tell your future girlfriend about it."

Luna pointed to the BYD parked by the curb.

"My husband's here to pick me up. I gotta go."

"Luna, actually, I've never had a girlfriend," Warren muttered, his voice a bit muffled.

Luna didn't take it seriously, waved at him nonchalantly, and joked, "So you have a boyfriend? I'd love to meet him to me sometime."

Warren was speechless.

Charles, sitting in the car, watched the interaction between Luna and Warren. His gloomy expression quickly returned to normal when Luna got in.

Though he was upset inside, he didn't show it.

Eric noticed the drastic change in Charles's mood and how quickly he adapted, showcasing his deep and cunning nature.

He suddenly realized how cunning Charles was. He was great at concealing his true feelings, making it impossible to fully understand his depth.

After Luna got in the car, Charles stayed silent. He didn't want to argue with her before meeting her parents.

Luna was busy chatting with Eric and didn't notice Charles's mood change.

The car had been driving for a while, but Warren was still standing there, watching quietly.

Joah passed by after work and gave him a hard pat on the shoulder.

"Why are you still here? What are you looking at?" Joah asked.

Seeing Joah, Warren suppressed his bitterness and said, "Joah, can I have a cigarette?"

He knew Joah smoked. People said smoking could ease worries, so he wanted to try it.

"You brat, either don't start smoking at all, or you'll never quit once you do! Go home and drink some milk." Joah retorted. He knew the dangers of smoking and didn't want Warren to follow his path.

"It's fine, just one. I won't get addicted."

Warren just wanted a cigarette to calm the storm inside him.

"Looks like you've been through a breakup?"

Joah had been there himself. Seeing Warren like this, it was probably about a relationship. After all, Warren was young, well-educated, and capable, so it unlikely to be stress from work.

"I've never even been in a relationship, how could I have a breakup?" Warren smiled bitterly.

"Then let me introduce you to someone. Anyone in our department catch your eye?"

Joah's social circle wasn't large, so if he were to introduce someone to Warren, it would have to be someone from around them.
