Chapter 202 It Means You Have Vulnerabilities And Are No Longer Invincible

Charles finished talking and gave the butler a thoughtful look. The butler thought for a bit and said, "Mr. Lee, after your buddy spent some time with his wife, what’s really bugging him isn’t whether he likes or loves her. It’s that he clearly wants more now. But isn’t that a good thing? It shows he’s not just sticking around because he doesn’t want a second marriage; he’s troubled because he wants more. If that’s not liking, then what is?"

Charles cleared his throat to break the awkward silence. "What do you mean he doesn’t want a second marriage? His situation’s different from mine; he doesn’t care about remarriage."

The butler gave a knowing smile again. Charles might be a genius at the negotiation table, but when it came to matters of the heart, he was a total mess.

The butler’s words hit home for Charles. From initially pushing Luna away to now having no demands, his mindset had really shifted.

He enjoyed inviting her and Eric to buffets, watching her make breakfast in the kitchen, seeing them soak up the sun on the balcony, and witnessing her grateful smile. He also liked listening to her speak confidently and reasonably. But when it came to love, he was sure his feelings for Luna were just at the level of liking.

After the butler left, Charles called Theodore. "Grandpa, you..."

Theodore said, "Charles, I bought a high-rise apartment in your neighborhood. From now on, we’ll be neighbors."

Before Charles could ask why Theodore was at Mountain Vista Gardens today, Theodore had already spilled the beans.

Charles said, "Grandpa, stop joking." Charles rubbed his temples, feeling like there’d be a third wheel between him and Luna in the future.

Theodore snorted. "I’m not joking; I’m helping you keep an eye on things. This girl is really good. If you don’t want her, I will..."

Charles asked, "Grandpa, what are you saying?" Charles was shocked by Theodore’s words. He stood up abruptly.

Theodore smiled. He hadn’t even finished speaking, and Charles was already anxious. Theodore said, "What I mean is, if you don’t want her, I’ll introduce her to Danniel. After all, he’s my son, closer than you."

"No way!" Charles refused flatly.

Theodore laughed. "Why not? You don’t even like her."

"Who said I don’t like her?" Charles blurted out.

Theodore laughed uncontrollably. Charles was frustrated. "Grandpa, is this fun for you? What does it matter if I say I like Luna? You know I won’t let emotions affect the company!"

To Theodore, Charles’s defense was just a matter of time. Now he was saying he only liked her and wouldn’t change his principles for her, but Theodore was confident he’d see Charles change his stance in the future.

Theodore said, "It means you finally have vulnerabilities. You’re no longer invincible. You have a touch of humanity, and I don’t have to worry about you being lonely for the rest of your life."

Theodore hung up the phone without giving Charles a chance to say another word.

Mountain Vista Gardens.

Luna spent the whole evening thinking about what gift to give Charles. After all, it was her first time giving a gift, and she had no experience, so she asked Ava for advice.

Ava told her that back in their day, they’d exchange small items; the guys would give flowers or food, and the girls would give handmade scarves, hats, or gloves.

Luna felt those weren’t suitable, so she called Summer for advice. Summer looked troubled. "You know my first love ended without a result. I wanted to give him a thousand paper cranes I made myself, but I never got the chance."

Hearing Summer say she made them herself, Luna burst into laughter. Summer’s handmade crafts were terrible!
