Chapter 57 This is the First and Last Time
Facing Emily's questioning, Bobby seemed somewhat indifferent.
"Are you planning to call the cops on me? Just think about it! If I end up with a record, your son's life is messed up! He'll be treated unfairly at school, and top companies won't hire him! If you want to sue me, go ahead!"
At this moment, Bobby was acting like a scoundrel.
Luna managed to hold Summer back, preventing her from rushing over.
What they needed to do now was gather evidence!
"I'm not bothered! That $10,000 is mine from before we got married! You have to give it back to me! The $20,000 in our joint account from before marriage was used for house renovations! Make sure your folks understand they didn't pay for the renovations—every cent came from us!!"
Although Emily was angry and heartbroken, her mind remained clear.
She was determined to reclaim what was rightfully hers!
"You've turned into a lunatic! You're so petty about everything. If I had known you'd become like this, I would have picked anyone else from my suitors, and they'd be better than you!"
Bobby raised his head, angrily clenching his fists.
"Bobby, who's chasing after you? I heard you got into our nearby school by splashing some serious cash since your grades were nowhere near the minimum cut-off."
”Which of your so-called suitors could afford a $30,000 car for you? Do you think we don't know? The Buick you're driving now was bought by selling the car that Emily's parents gave her!“
"Emily never judged you when you tied the knot! And now you're saying stuff like this! Should I open the door and yell outside, so the neighbors can gather around and pass their own judgments on you??"
When Luna mentioned the car, Bobby felt a bit guilty.
Bobby was just good-looking and smooth-talking. After getting married, David spent money to get him a good job, which drained the Hill family's savings.
He had only been working for a year and was already acting arrogantly.
"Emily, should we call the police?"
Luna signaled Summer to take out her phone.
Emily waved the knife in front of Bobby again and said, "Not for now! Bobby, I'm sparing you today for the sake of our son! This is the first and last time!"
Emily threw the knife to the ground and turned to look at Luna and Summer.
"Thanks for your help today. You can head off now. I've still got to look after Tommy.."
Emily gave them a meaningful look.
Luna looked at her haggard and rough face, and her ill-fitting loungewear, feeling a sudden pang of sadness.
Earlier, when Emily was looking for a hanger, Luna noticed that all the coats in Emily's closet were from her school days, with nothing new.
Tommy's clothes were also few. Besides the two sets Luna had given, most were bought by Summer.
She had given so much to this family, but what had she received in return?
"Bobby! Listen up! Emily has family! I am! Summer too! We're cutting Emily some slack this time so we don't involve the cops! If it happens again, the whole neighborhood will know you're abusive! If that's the deal, let's see how you manage around here.!"
Luna's expression was serious, and Bobby shrank back involuntarily when he met her gaze.
"Bobby! I have only these two good sisters! If Emily suffers, you won't have a smooth ride either! I'll take proof of your abuse to your workplace and present it to your boss! They can be the judge of you.!"
When Bobby heard that Summer was going to his company, he turned pale with fright.
