Chapter 194 He's Still a Child
Ryan's body shook, eyes wide with fear. Ethan yanked his hand away, smirking. "You know exactly how Lily got into that mess. If you don't want me spilling the beans, you better scram!" With that, Ethan strutted off.
He wasn't worried about Ryan trying to shut him up for good. If anything happened to him, the cops would definitely check his phone, and Ryan would be toast.
Watching Ethan's cocky retreat, Ryan collapsed to the ground, feeling hopeless. He thought, 'How did Ethan catch me in the act?'
Three years ago, he and Ethan first crossed paths, bonding over some niche hobbies and adding each other on Facebook. Ethan must've tailed him after that dinner and seen everything. Now that Ethan had dirt on him, Ryan had no choice but to play along.
In the morning, Luna wheeled Eric downstairs. Charles had a meeting, so he left right after breakfast. Luna took Eric to Sandra's place to paint.
When they got to the cafe, Sandra wasn't there yet, but a crowd had gathered at the entrance. A middle-aged woman's voice cut through the noise. "You miserable old man, picking on a little kid at your age! Look how scared my son is! If he gets traumatized, I'll make you pay!"
Theodore said, "I've got everything you're saying on record. If I need to, I'll sue you for defamation! Your son peed in the elevator, making it drop from the fourth floor to the first. If it had been higher, could you handle the consequences?""Your son was wrong. I didn't hit him or yell at him. I just asked him to call his parents. And when you showed up, instead of making him apologize, you defended him. With a parent like you, no wonder your kid pees in elevators!" Theodore said, his voice steady and authoritative.
Luna got the gist of it and, after settling Eric, walked inside. "I'm a police officer. Do you need help?" Luna asked Theodore, her tone calm but professional.
Theodore turned to her, his eyes narrowing with a sharp glint. Luna was taken aback. Theodore looked like Charles.
"What's there to call the police about? It's just kids messing around! He couldn't hold it in, so he peed in the elevator. It's not a big deal! Is a broken elevator more important than my son's life?" The woman, face full of hostility, fiercely defended her son. Her values were seriously messed up.
The boy she called a child was nearly 5 feet 3 inches tall, probably in fifth or sixth grade.
"Ma'am, if your son damaged the elevator by peeing in it, you need to pay for the damage. Also, your son isn't two or three years old. He's at least over ten. In school, teachers would have taught him about elevator safety. Our department also regularly visits schools to educate about elevator safety. This is serious!" Luna said.
As Luna finished, the crowd nodded in agreement. In the crowd, Sandra, who had just arrived, suddenly saw Theodore standing opposite Luna. Sandra was about to greet him when Theodore saw her and shook his head, signaling her to stay quiet.
