Chapter 34 Renting Through an Agent

Her palm stung from the impact.

If she could, Luna really wanted to slap Charles in the face.

"Charles, you're a man. If you have something to say, just say it! Stop beating around the bush and being passive-aggressive!"

Luna knew Charles didn't like her, and she tried her best not to provoke him.

But his accusations needed to be based on facts!

What did he mean by being flirtatious and finding a new boyfriend?

Charles looked at her coldly. His thin lips parting slightly and he said calmly,"Fine, name it! Today you went on a blind date with a friend. You were helping her out, but now that you're married, it's best to steer clear of those situations.."

"You haven't met my family yet. What if they see this in the future..."

"Charles, no need to stress. You know I was helping out, so no more explanations. I'm moving out now. Your family won't get the wrong idea anymore!"

After saying that, Luna went to her room, took out five hundred dollars, and slammed it in front of Charles.

"It was five hundred dollars for the telescope rental! If it's not enough, I'll add more!"

"Luna, are you throwing a tantrum? How childish can you be?"

Charles sat behind the desk with his arms crossed, looking at her with his head slightly raised.

Luna sneered, "Charles, we're not close enough;I'm not that petty! I won't stoop to that level over something like this."

"I've decidedto leave! Maybe I should thank you, because you finally remembered my name. Not calling me Ms. Brown anymore!"

Luna's last sentence was clearly mocking Charles.

"Eric, we're ready to leave."

Luna had her pride, but she wasn't impulsive.

But Charles' words had indeed crossed her line.

She knew that telling Charles that she supported Eric and cured his illness on her own would sound like a fairy tale to him, but every penny she spent was earned by herself, and she felt justified.

She never gave up and never lived without principles.

Eric had been sitting on the balcony. Hearing Luna's words, he wheeled himself into the living room and politely said goodbye to Charles.

By this time, Luna was already in the bedroom packing.

She only had some clothes and basic necessities.

"Charles, thank you for the telescope. I'll remember your kindness."

"I know  that your care for me was partly out of sympathy, but I know you're a decent person, so I want to thank you."

Eric's words made Charles frown. The next moment, he walked to Luna's bedroom door and saw her packing with the door open. Charles suddenly stepped forward and took the suitcase.

"It's so late. Where can you go? You don't have a car. Are you going to rely on that unreliable friend of yours?"

Charles could tell Luna meant business. It wasn't that he wanted her to stay, but he was concerned about her and Eric's safety.

"Charles! How I interact with my friends is my business!  I won't interfere with how you interact with your friends and family!"

"You're questioning my character now, and that's crossing my line. We have nothing more to say!"

Luna's attitude was firm, but seeing Eric's pale face in the living room, she couldn't help but feel reluctant.

Charles noticed Luna's hesitation because of Eric, so he put the suitcase aside.

"You can leave anytime tomorrow! Don't drag Eric into this just to spite me!"

After Charles finished speaking, Eric quietly looked at Luna.

Whether to stay or leave, he would follow his sister's decision.

"Eric, go back to your room and sleep."

With that, Luna went back to her room and closed the door, tacitly agreeing to leave tomorrow.

In the living room, Eric wheeled himself back to the balcony.

"You're not going to sleep?" Charles asked him.

In that moment, Charles noticed Eric's solitary and forlorn demeanor, a stark departure from the typical melancholy one might expect from someone his age.
