Chapter 173 Something's Wrong With Wendy

"Emily, you like the breakfast? The toast and whole grain bread are fresh, and the coffee's from the shop across the street. Give it a try." Wendy greeted her with a big smile.

Emily wondered if the breakfast was poisoned.

"Wendy, just get to the point." Emily sat on the couch with Tommy in her arms.

Ever since Bobby mistreated her and her in-laws just watched, Emily only called them by their names.

"You're overthinking. I got you breakfast because I know you barely get to eat well while taking care of Tommy." Wendy said with a fake smile.

Emily found it amusing.

If Wendy really cared about her eating well, she wouldn't have given her just potatoes and pumpkins during postpartum recovery.

Wendy wouldn't have taken the supplements sent by Luna and Summer and given them to her eldest son and youngest daughter, saying too many supplements were bad.

When Emily started ordering takeout, Wendy complained to her eldest son and youngest daughter that Emily was picky and hard to please.

Wendy even said that before getting married, Emily claimed to like potatoes and pumpkins. So, during recovery, she ate twelve pumpkins, yet Wendy claimed Emily was still unsatisfied!

Emily didn't tell Luna and the others because she didn't want them to worry. Looking back, she should've seen the family's true colors.

And all this happened after she gave Bobby twenty thousand dollars to pay off a loan.

So now, if Wendy was buying her breakfast, it wasn't out of kindness.

"Didn't you say outside food is dirty? Didn't you tell me to wake up early to make breakfast? Why are you buying me dirty food now?"

Emily had already fallen out with them and wasn't interested in playing along. She bluntly exposed Wendy.

Wendy's face stiffened, almost losing her temper, but she remembered she had something important to discuss. She forced a smile.

"Emily, I was wrong before. I'm apologizing. We're still family! Let's move on. From now on, I'll treat you like my own daughter."

As Wendy finished, Emily frowned.

Wendy didn't even finish elementary school and didn't like reading. This roundabout way wasn't her style.

Someone must have coached her.

Emily decided to play along and see what Wendy was up to.

"I'm not hungry now. I'll take Tommy out for a walk later."

Emily's attitude seemed to soften, and Wendy thought she was getting through, slowly revealing her true intentions.

"Emily, you haven't shopped in a while, right? Leave Tommy with us today and go shopping with Luna and the others."

"Last time they came over, I didn't treat them well. That was my fault. Tonight, I'll buy some seafood and roast chicken, and you can invite Luna over for dinner. Consider it my apology. Luna seems like a sincere kid. So it's settled, okay? Invite her over for dinner tonight." Wendy finished and tried to take Tommy away, urging Emily to call Luna.
