Chapter 45 You Were One Family Five Hundred Years Ago

"I waited 'til the end to grab this bag of fish. It's all the leftovers, so no chance of any big guys in there."

"But hey, 70 bucks for 5 pounds! Can't beat that. Eric loves this kinda bass, just pan-fried with some salt."

"Except for the hassle of cleaning them, they taste really good!"

After hearing Luna's words, Charles fell silent. He had never seen so many small fish packed together.

It seemed like a pound could hold a dozen or so.

‘Are they edible?’Charles thought.

After Luna bought all the household items on the list, the three of them walked out of the wholesale market.

At the entrance, Luna saw a fleet of Rolls-Royces across the street.

She looked at them thoughtfully for a few moments.

Seeing her staring at the fleet, Charles casually asked, "Do you know them?"

Luna shook her head, "Nah, you're telling me! But listen to this, they're owned by the richest guy in Bright City. And get this, he's got the same last name as you! We were probably related, like, five hundred years ago!"

Charles remained silent. Actually, they were still family now!

Charles drove back, and when they reached the roadside of the neighborhood, Luna pushed Eric, while Charles carried several bags. Luna found that he dragged the cart a bit funny, so she took the cart and tied it to Eric's wheelchair.

"Can we leave the car here? You can't park here for more than three minutes."

Luna glanced back at the business car parked by the roadside.

"Mike will be here soon. He'll drive it away."

Almost as soon as Charles finished speaking, Mike appeared from where Luna couldn't see and drove the business car away.

They entered the neighborhood through the pedestrian street, passing by a cafe.

Eric's drawing board had just arrived. Since Max didn't have the key, he left it at the cafe.

Charles went in to say hello. Sandra looked at Charles with genuine affection, but her expression turned indifferent when she looked at Luna.

However, she wouldn't say anything unpleasant.

Luna could sense that Sandra didn't like her, but she wouldn't make things difficult for her either.

While Charles chatted with Sandra, Luna didn't stay to listen and took Eric back .

"Charles, can you help me carry the stuff upstairs later? Sandra, I'm leaving now. You take care."

After Luna said goodbye , she pushed Eric away.

Sandra eyed the black bag by the door suspiciously, a pungent fishy odor wafting from it.

"Where did you buy these? You usually pick your food and supplies carefully. You might get an upset stomach from market stuff."

Sandra was worried that Luna would cook all sorts of random things for Charles.

"Don't worry, Sandra. If it doesn't suit my taste, I won't eat it."

"That's good. Just don't get a stomachache."

"Sandra, I looked into the last incident. It was a misunderstanding." Charles briefly explained to Sandra.

Sandra nodded after listening.

"Well, that's a relief! I just wouldn't want her stirring up any drama for you, you know? Luckily, she doesn't know your identity. Otherwise, her relatives and friends might all come knocking."

"Sandra, I won't give them that chance. I'm heading back now. If you don't have anything else, you can close up early."

Charles trusted Sandra deeply ,because she was the one who had accompanied him the most during his childhood besides his mother.

"Don't you know? I just like staying here. There's nothing much for me to do at home."Sandra said.

Sandra smiled, but it was a bitter one. The last thing she wanted was to go home and face her son and daughter-in-law.

Charles left the cafe and went downstairs, only to find Luna and Eric still there.

"Why haven't you gone up yet? What happened?"

Charles's mind immediately jumped to trouble. Had the owner of the towed car somehow tracked them down?
