Chapter 131 She Really Doesn't Deserve Charles
After Charles and Luna left, Ashley's face darkened. She sighed, "A month will fly by, and it's already been almost ten days."
The Lee family knew exactly what Ashley meant.
She didn't think much of Luna.
She was also worried that if Luna found out Charles's true identity, she'd latch onto him.
Even though Luna was graceful today, leaving no room for criticism, she still couldn't pass Ashley's test.
"I think Luna's pretty nice. Maybe you just accepted Anna first and are biased."
Vincent had never met Anna, but after hearing the conversation between Ashley and her, he always felt the girl's tone was odd and uncomfortable.
Luna was different. She was graceful and neither servile nor overbearing.
Despite their unfortunate circumstances, Luna and Eric never played the victim. Eric also got along well with James and Olivia.
"Luna might be attractive, how can she compare to Charles in other aspects? I'm not saying she's terrible, but she really doesn't match up to our son."
Ashley hadn't spoken much to Luna all evening. She had been observing her son's attitude.
"Are you still hung up on that trending topic? Wasn't it all clarified?" Vincent didn't want to say too much. Because it ultimately depended on Charles's attitude.
Vincent's poor health forced him to retire early, allowing Charlie to take the lead. They had a mutual understanding not to interfere in Charlie's marriage.
But an accident had made Ashley reconsider finding someone she trusted for Charlie.
"Uncle Vincent, Aunt Ashley, Luna and Eric seem pretty easygoing. If you're still worried, isn't Grandpa around? Grandpa didn't come today because he wanted to personally test Luna and Eric. With him involved, what do you have to worry about?"
Olivia's words reassured Ashley quite a bit.
Indeed, Charlie's grandpa was still a significant facto!
Although he doted on his grandson, he wouldn't allow a problematic granddaughter-in-law to stay in the Lee family.
Previously, Ashley had been somewhat headstrong and hadn't consulted Grandpa before making her decision.
She thought that with Charlie's personality, he would either end up alone or quickly marry someone unfamiliar. It was better to choose someone she approved of first.
Anna was gentle and seemed simple. So Ashley believed that she would eventually win Charlie over.
After all, she understood her son. He had no time or interest in dating.
There were no young women around him.
Who knew he could still make a mistake and get the wrong marriage license!
On the way back, Luna noticed that Charles's attitude had cooled.
He was no longer as calm and gentle as he had been during dinner.
His face was tense, and his expression was serious.
Luna had no idea what she had done to offend him.
Eric quietly sent Luna a message on Facebook.
PureSib: [Luna, when he saw you walking out with Warren, chatting and laughing, he didn't look happy at the time.]
Luna was puzzled.
What was it about her and Warren that he couldn't stand?
Luna replied to Eric with an emoji, implying that she knew it.
After getting home, Eric went to rest first. Luna pretended not to know anything and went to the balcony to tidy up Eric's school supplies.
"You know why I'm upset! Not saying anything is avoiding the issue, isn't it?"
Charles sat on the living room sofa, exuding the aura of someone in power, his tone was laden with the questioning and dissatisfaction of a superior reprimanding a subordinate.
Luna laughed in exasperation.
"You're the one who's upset, not me! I don't think there's anything wrong with me chatting and laughing with Warren!"
"If you think I've done something wrong, just say it! Why should I have to guess your thoughts? This isn't the old days when women had to tiptoe around men, constantly vying for their approval!"
Luna retorted Charles mercilessly.
Since they were going to talk, she might as well lay it all out.
