Chapter 198 If I Mess up Again, I'll Cut Off One of My Arms

After the whole mess with the mom and kid got sorted, Luna called up Ava to explain what went down and asked for an hour off.

Luna found Sandra in the crowd and made sure Eric was okay. Before leaving, she grilled Eric about what happened at the wholesale market.

She was surprised that Charles had Eric's back so much while she was gone. She felt super grateful to Charles and wanted to get him a gift, but had no clue what to get.

Honestly, Sandra would be the best person to ask since she had known Charles forever and would know what he likes. But Sandra was always been kinda cold towards her, and Luna didn’t want to risk getting shut down. So, she decided to ask Ava at work instead.

After Luna left, Sandra watched her go and thought about Theodore’s attitude towards Luna, feeling a bit uneasy. She thought, 'Charles treats Luna differently. Could it be that even Theodore liked Luna as a granddaughter-in-law? Luna really doesn’t seem like a match for Charles at all!'

At 5:30, Luna clocked out. It had been another busy and fulfilling day. Luna was so swamped she didn’t get a chance to ask Ava about a gift for Charles, and she didn’t have time to call him either.

After work, Luna got a text from Charles saying he had to stay late for a meeting. She changed her clothes and rushed home to cook for Eric.

Since their last argument and blocking each other on Facebook, Luna and Charles hadn’t re-added each other. Charles didn’t bring it up either. So when Luna saw his text, she didn’t think much of it.

Leaving the police station, she had just crossed the street when she saw someone familiar waving at her from a distance. Luna’s face instantly darkened.

Bobby said, “Luna, I finally caught you after work.” He acted like he knew Luna well, flashing a greasy smile. He tried to pat her on the shoulder, but Luna stepped back to dodge him.

Luna asked coldly, “What do you want?” She never had much to say to Bobby.

Bobby was always bragging about knowing some big shot, having dinner with some rich guy, or visiting some exclusive club. Luna used to listen out of respect for Emily, letting his words go in one ear and out the other, treating them as nonsense. But ever since he mistreated Emily, Luna didn’t want to hear a word from him.

Luna’s attitude made Bobby mad. Then he remembered he was there to ask for her help, so he had to keep his cool.

Bobby said, “Luna, I’m here to apologize today. I was a jerk before! I deserve whatever I get. Now that Emily’s ignoring me, it’s just what I deserve. I know Emily listens to you the most. I want to ask you to help convince Emily to give me another chance. Give my family another shot! I’ll really change my ways! If I mess up again, I’ll cut off one of my arms!”

Bobby sounded all emotional, like he really knew he was wrong. But Luna felt his apology was fake, not genuine at all. Luna said, “If you really mean that, maybe Emily should forgive you once. Alright, I got it. I’ll talk to her.”

Luna didn’t bother to call him out. Anyway, Emily was still gathering evidence, and lowering Bobby’s guard would help Emily.

Bobby said, “Luna, thank you so much! You’re really a sensible and good person!”

Seeing Luna agree, Bobby breathed a sigh of relief. He thought he’d have to work harder to convince her. Luna was even easier to fool than Emily; he tricked her with just a few words.

Luna said, “That’s all. I’m leaving.”

Luna turned to go. Bobby’s eyes darted around, and he quickly stopped her. “Luna, actually... I have one more favor to ask.”
