Chapter 209 Try It

The floor was a mess, covered in sofa cushions, bed sheets, and Tommy's few toys—some already broken, like the place had been ransacked. Leftover food was still on the table, and the kitchen looked like a crime scene.

Emily used to handle all the chores—cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the kid. By the time she sat down to eat, there was barely anything left.

Bobby's older brother, Barry Hill, and his family of three, along with Nina's family of three, ate like they were starving. Every time they visited, they skipped breakfast, had a huge lunch, and then a big dinner before leaving.

Nina's son would pile all the good food into his bowl, even when it was overflowing. Whenever he saw his favorite dish, he'd grab it with his hands. Nina didn't care, saying it was just him expressing himself.

And the rest of the Hill family wasn't much better. They'd dig through the dishes with their utensils and liked to pick food from Emily's plate. After it happened so many times, Emily didn't enjoy eating with them anymore.

David sat on the sofa, picking his teeth, and arrogantly scolded Emily, "Finally decided to come back? If it weren't for Tommy, you wouldn't even dream of getting in this house!"

Emily put Tommy in the stroller and said coolly, "If you don't let me in, I'll break the window. I've done it before; I know how!"

David's face turned red with anger. Wendy chimed in, "Why are you arguing with her? Emily! Hurry up and clean this place. We bought all this food; you didn't spend a dime, so cleaning up is the least you can do."

Wendy was feeding her son and daughter the seafood she had planned to serve Luna. Alice had given her the money but also asked her to find out where Luna was living now. So she eavesdropped on Emily's phone call, learned that Emily was going to meet Luna, and immediately informed Alice.

Emily pushed Tommy towards the bedroom. She said, "Whoever made the mess should clean it up! I used to prepare and clean everything, and none of you appreciated it! From now on, when they come over, I'm not serving them!"

Emily walked into the bedroom and saw her vanity in complete disarray. Her skincare products were shattered, spilled everywhere, and her only lipstick was broken and smeared all over the bed sheets, making the bed look like a crime scene, with foundation spread all over. It was clearly the work of the Hill family kids.

She rarely wore makeup, and the only lipstick she had was a gift from Luna. Emily's face turned pale with anger. She suppressed her rage, put Tommy to sleep, and started cleaning the bedroom.

"While you're cleaning the bedroom, tidy up the living room too," Wendy said, still wanting her to do more chores.

Emily threw down the broom, convinced that her in-laws had deliberately instructed the kids to ruin her makeup.

Emily dialed Bobby's number in the living room. The call was initially hung up, but Emily kept calling until Bobby answered.

Bobby impatiently scolded Emily, "What do you want? I'm with a client! Can't you stop calling?"

Emily said, "Your brother's and sister's kids ruined all my makeup, and there's foundation and lipstick all over the bed sheets and clothes. Transfer me three hundred dollars for the damages!"

As soon as Emily spoke, Wendy jumped up, ready to hit her. Emily glared. "Try it!"

Wendy's chest heaved with anger, but the memory of Emily wielding a knife made her hesitate.

Bobby said, "Why are you making a fuss over kids? They're at an age where they're naturally active. If things get broken, so be it! I don't have money to give you! Besides, with your figure and face, wearing any clothes or using any makeup is a waste!"
