Chapter 206 It's Only Right for an Uncle to Educate His Niece
Hearing it, Luna let out a bitter laugh. "She'd cry because she misses me? Luke, when did you start writing soap operas? That's some dramatic stuff right there. She's probably crying because she wants my family's relocation money so bad! Luke, seriously, I have no beef with you. My parents took care of you when they were alive, never did you wrong. You can stay out of this, and I won't hold it against you for being selfish and cold! But right now, you're just being played. You are taken advantage of and don’t even realize it. They got what they wanted; you think they'll share it with you?"
Luna hit the nail on the head, but Luke was too far gone to see it. Over the years, Alice and Ella had totally brainwashed him.
Ethan chimed in, "Luke, don't listen to her; she's just trying to mess with us! Grandma and Mom were so good to her. Now she's found someone else to rely on and a place to stay, she doesn't need us anymore! She's treating our kindness like trash."
Ethan knew Luke's temper—easy to rile up—so he brought him along, knowing Luke would take the fall if things went south.
Sure enough, Luke took the bait and snapped, "Luna, are you coming back with me to see Grandma or not?" As he spoke, he grabbed a stick from the bushes and waved it in front of Luna. Ethan watched with a smirk. He couldn't wait for Luke and Luna to start fighting.Emily stepped in, "I'm recording this on my phone. If you touch Luna, I'm calling the cops!" She tossed the fruit on the ground, holding Tommy in one arm and her phone in the other.
But Luke, still hot-headed in his forties, wasn't fazed. "This is a family matter between Luna and me. I'm her uncle, and it's my right to discipline her. You, stay out of it!" Luke said, moving closer, while Ethan kept stirring the pot.
Ethan added, "Luke! She doesn't respect you at all! She probably sees you as just a broke taxi driver with no money or skills. The guy she's marrying has a car and a house. Even if the car's not fancy, it's still a car; the house, even with a mortgage, needed a down payment of at least a hundred grand. How could she look up to you, living in that old, rundown apartment?"
Ethan was being a real jerk, trying to push Luke over the edge. Luke thought about how he had recently fallen down the stairs looking for Luna, breaking several of his front teeth, which he had just gotten replaced. He thought i was all Luna's fault. Hearing Ethan's words, Luke lost it."Luna! You're not coming back with me, huh? Fine! Today, I'll teach you a lesson for your parents! Even if I go to jail, I won't let you off!" Luke shouted, raising the stick to hit Luna.
Just then, Cassandra, who had been trailing behind Luke and got left behind earlier, arrived and saw Luke about to hit Luna. She turned pale with fear.
As the stick was about to hit Luna's head, Luke suddenly tripped and fell towards the concrete ground. There was a sharp corner where he fell, and if he hit it, he could be seriously hurt or even killed.
Luke's body was out of control, and his head was heading straight for the concrete corner. In that critical moment, Luna reached out to pull him, while Ethan, who was closer to Luke, not only didn't help but stepped back. In his mind, the harder Luke hit, the worse it would be for Luna.
