Chapter 48 Each Returns to Their Room, Each Finds Their Bed

Charles took a bite of the fruit platter and thought,' isn't this just the most ordinary fruit taste?'

It wasn't as bad as he had imagined.

Seeing the headless rabbit, Luna rolled her eyes at him.

'If Charles gets married and has kids in the future, he might scare his own children to tears!'Luna thought.

Charles might think,' Why don't you give me a child and find out!'

The three of them had a late lunch, and eat fruit in the afternoon, so they didn't feel like having dinner. Luna simply made some oatmeal

The taste was as good as ever. Charles originally didn't want to eat dinner, but he couldn't resist having a big bowl.

At 10 PM, seeing Charles still on the balcony stargazing with Eric, Luna gave an order.

"Everyone back to your rooms, find your own beds! Sleep!"

Although Eric was reluctant, he obediently complied.

"Luna, can I stay home and paint tomorrow?"

Eric was so stoked about his new drawing board, he was itching to play around with it more. the cafe could wait.

"I just worry about you when I'm not around.."

Luna was a bit troubled.

"How about we install a camera in the living room in a few days, pointing at the balcony, so your sister and I can see you on our phones? But for the next few days, you should go to the cafe."

Charles came up with an idea and Luna had no objections.  Eric obediently agreed.

The three of them went back to their rooms and closed the doors to sleep.

This was Charles' first night here.

It wasn't exactly peaceful like the villa. Downstairs, there was a constant hum of activity—neighbors chatting, exchanging greetings, and the occasional off-key serenade from someone who'd had a bit too much to drink. Other floors had couples arguing, and children being scolded by their mothers for not finishing their homework.

The bed wasn't as comfortable as the one in the villa.

Charles dozed off around two or three in the morning.

When he woke up, it was already past seven. After washing up, he found that Luna had already left.

She left a note on the table for him.

[Mr. Lee, If you're up, could you please take Eric downstairs when you get a chance? I left at 6 so he could sleep in a bit. Thanks!]

[The bread on the table is fresh toast I bought this morning. Please toast it for 2 minutes. The bacon is in the fridge. Fry it for 3 minutes and put it on the toast.]

[Also, a formal statement: The bacon is carefully selected by me yesterday. It's not unhealthy and please enjoy!]

After reading the note, Charles laughed in exasperation.

She definitely bought the sandwich ingredients on purpose yesterday!

Charles let Eric sleep in a while longer, figuring the little guy needed it. Once Eric was up, Charles made the sandwiches, just like Luna had shown him.

Once the sandwiches were ready, he and Eric each had one.

When he saw the two plates soaking in the sink, Charles found them an eyesore, so he rolled up his sleeves and washed them clean before taking Eric downstairs.

At this time, Sophia in the house across the street was woken up by a phone call. Seeing it was from Anna, she immediately answered.

"Sweetie, why didn't you answer my call yesterday? You have no idea how unlucky I was! I ran into this total nutjob! He was driving some beat-up car worth, like, maybe ten grand, and acting like he was God's gift to drivers!"

"Just because I blocked his car, he called the police and had the traffic cop tow my car! He made my life difficult, so I didn't let him off either!"

Sophia complained for a long time.

Anna on the other end of the line didn't say anything for a while.

"Anna, what's wrong?"

"Sophia, I remember your brother has some connections. Can he help me look up someone? I want to know who Charles  registered with! Who is that woman!"

Anna's voice was listless, sounding very low-spirited.

Sophia was the woman who blocked Charles' car yesterday.
