Chapter 150 Who Do You Think You Are to Me?
When Ella heard Alice had a solution, she stopped crying and listened.
Alice explained, "I know someone who can help us find Luna. It's Wendy."
"I even went to Emily's wedding! Spent two hundred bucks on a gift. Luna was there too. Wendy's my friend; I can get her to help us."
Ella, wiping her nose, asked, "Mom, why didn't you mention this earlier?"
Alice glared, "Who knew we wouldn't see Luna? Besides, asking my friend for help is embarrassing."
"Mom, Helen said you caused her mom to lose the house allocation and a permanent position. What's that about?" Ella had always wondered but never asked. She wanted to know why Alice had upset Helen so much.
Alice's face darkened. "Her mom was just dumb! There were only a few spots for company housing. Her seniority was slightly longer than mine, so we didn't stand a chance. If I hadn't exposed her two-faced gossip to the leaders, how else could we have snagged that housing perk before her?"
"But..." Ella still felt uneasy.
"Stop prying! Just come with me to find Wendy. I remember where she lives."
Neither Alice nor Ella wanted to spend money eating out, so they set off on empty stomachs.
Two days later, Luna's foot healed enough for her to go back to work.
Before work, she dropped Eric off at Sandra's. She noticed Sandra was warmer towards Eric.
Eric told Luna it was because they both liked oil painting.
Luna smiled. Though Sandra was still indifferent to her, she didn't mind. Sandra hadn't been unpleasant or difficult.
None of the elder women around Charles liked her, including Ashley.
While Luna explained Eric's lunch to Sandra, Eric picked up Luna's phone to call Charles.
The call was cut off after one ring, and the same happened again.
Eric realized Charles had blocked Luna!
Feeling down, Eric quietly put the phone back.
At the office, Warren came over with a cup of coffee before Luna could sit down.
Seeing her walk awkwardly, Warren asked, "Luna, what happened to your foot? Did you take time off because you got hurt?"
Luna waved with a smile. "I'm fine. Isn't it time for you to go upstairs?"
"Luna, you haven't answered my calls. I asked Summer, and she didn't know either. Did you fight with Charles? Did he hurt you? If he did, I'll teach him a lesson."
Warren felt something had happened during Luna's time off.
Joah had given Warren a new case, so he hadn't checked on her.
Luna half-joked, "Who do you think you are to me? You're going to teach my husband a lesson? We're fine. You should find a girlfriend."
Luna kept her distance from Warren.
Warren's expression darkened. "Actually, I found someone, but she's not available right now."
Luna said, "What do you mean, not available? Is your partner really a man?"
"Luna, actually she..."
"Warren! Are you still chatting? Joah's looking for you!" Warren's colleague interrupted.
Seeing Luna, the colleague greeted her, "Luna, there's an emergency. Joah informed your leader. You need to join the action! Assemble in three minutes!"
Luna nodded, grabbed her coat, and rushed out.
Warren placed the coffee on her desk, then thought it would be cold by the time she got back, so he threw it out and followed Luna upstairs.
