Chapter 142 The Pig Trotters Are Innocent
Charles stared at the message, [Sorry, you are not friends with this person] in shock for a few seconds.
He grabbed his phone and asked the butler, "What does it mean that I'm not friends with this person?"
Mr. Lee was genuinely puzzled. No one had ever dared to unfriend him on Facebook before, so he had no clue.
The butler's heart sank, thinking all his efforts to persuade Charles had failed. He had to be honest, "It means Ms. Brown unfriended you."
"What? She unfriended me?" Charles looked at the butler, a cocktail of disbelief, fury, and self-ridicule swirling in his expression.
The butler stayed silent. Luna had unfriended him on Facebook!
'Why is Mr. Lee glaring at me like that?' the butler wondered.
Charles couldn't believe Luna would unfriend him. He thought about messaging Eric but figured he had already reached out to Luna. What more could he do?
If she unfriended him, so be it! Adding her back would be beneath him as the Lee family heir.
Furious, Charles stormed out. Nick, who was wiping the car door, was startled when Charles appeared.
"Mr. Lee, you..."
"Stop wiping! It's going to rain soon! Don't you check the weather forecast?" Charles snapped, leaving Nick confused.
'Isn't wiping the car my daily task? What's wrong with Mr. Lee?' Nick thought.
The butler silently prayed for Nick, thinking, 'Can I tell you it's because Ms. Brown unfriended him on Facebook? I can't!'
Meanwhile, Luna, with her injured foot, took two days off. She used the time to arrange for the driver to deliver the pig trotters.
Even though Charles brought them back and they argued, the pig trotters were innocent. They were hers to handle.
The driver, nearby, came over after his job. Luna gave him four boxes, two for the passenger. She had contacted the passenger, who was busy and asked the driver to deliver them. He had already paid the driver.
Luna didn't want to bother the passenger further, so she asked the driver to deliver the pig trotters.
She chatted with the driver and learned he had resumed work. Uber issued a statement, and he received support from netizens, which reassured Luna.
The driver was initially reluctant to accept the gift, but Luna persuaded him. She also told him to call her if he needed anything. Grateful, the driver gave Luna some cookies made by his daughter.
As Luna walked back with the cookies, her phone rang. Seeing it was Warren, she hesitated before answering.
"Luna, you took leave? Are you okay? Let me take you to the hospital," Warren said, worried.
"I'm fine. Just tired from everything lately. I wanted to rest for two days," Luna lied.
"Let me come see you. I have some time off and can take you and Eric out for Mexican food," Warren insisted.
"Don't come over. I'm heading out. I have plans with Emily. I'll talk to you later," Luna rejected him.
Warren felt frustrated and disappointed after being hung up on.
Summer, nearby, witnessed it all but chose not to comment. It wasn't the right time to tell him the truth.
