Chapter 74 How Could He Possibly Have Feelings for Luna?

"Charles, where are you taking us to eat?" Luna asked curiously, glancing at the sea bathed in golden light.

As a native beach girl, she hadn't properly looked at the ocean in a long time.

Life's various challenges had left her too busy to take a moment to enjoy the sunset over the sea.

"To the HarmonyHaven Hotel," Charles replied calmly.

Luna gasped.

"Isn't that a six-star hotel? You don't have to spend so much."

Luna felt a headache. If she had to return the favor in the future, she might go bankrupt.

"No sweat. The company tossed me some meal passes for a marketing shindig. Mom's veggie, and Dad's swamped, so I'm bringing you folks along. Truth be told, I've only swung by there a couple times for work dos."

Charles was getting better at lying without batting an eye.

HarmonyHaven Hotel was owned by the Lee Group. Charles visited at least two or three times a month.

But this time, he had given a heads-up, and the managers and executives who knew him would pretend he was just a regular guest.

"I also booked a small private room, so we can eat more comfortably."

After Charles finished speaking, Luna glanced back at Eric and saw his eager face. She didn't say anything more.

She used to underestimate Charles a bit. His level was probably not that of an ordinary manager.

But they were only living together for a month, so she didn't want to ask too many questions.

"Why do you never ask me which company I work for or what I do?" Charles asked while driving.

Luna smiled, "You knew my job the first time we met. If you were doing something shady, you wouldn't dare live with me."

"Since you're not guilty, it must be a legitimate job. We're only together for a month, so I don't need to know that much. We won't have much interaction in the future anyway."

Luna's casual and natural attitude inexplicably annoyed Charles.

He couldn't quite say why, but it just made him uncomfortable.

"Luna, you get why I'm not keen on round two in the marriage department. We could totally roll with this setup for a good while. You and Eric got your roof, and Eric’s got his caretaker. So, what's the harm in keeping things as they are?"Charles couldn't help but ask.

As soon as he said it, he felt it was out of character for him.

It was as if he was trying to keep Luna.

"Actually, I'm saying this for Eric's sake," he added, afraid Luna might misunderstand his intentions.

How could he possibly have feelings for Luna!

Luna shifted her gaze from the window to his face. His chiseled features were bathed in the warm golden light of the sunset, looking strong and flawless.

She had never thought about getting married, and  the person she mistakenly married was a super handsome guy.

It all felt like a dream!

But ever since her parents passed away, she had stopped dreaming.

Life wasn't a novel, nor a fairy tale.

She needed to save herself.

"Charles, our relationship isn't a normal one. It's bound to have problems. We'll face a complete breakdown in the future! Have you thought about that?"

When it came to emotional decisions, Luna was as calm as someone who had lived for over a century.

Charles's heart tightened.

The big problem Luna mentioned was probably his identity!

When the time came, he would face two choices.

One, Luna might catch wind of his wealth and push for a hefty alimony. She could even escalate things to court, airing it all out for more cash, laying bare his private affairs for sympathy points. Two, Luna would walk away, and he would be doomed to a second marriage.
