Chapter 203 Cut the Ground from under Their Feet

Luna was laughing so hard that Summer wished she could just disappear. Luna said, "Summer, remember your score in our labor class? Negative! Why? Because not finishing it was zero points, but you not only didn't finish, you also broke the tools, so it was negative."

Luna laughed as she brought up Summer's old story. Summer also remembered how she broke the tools in labor class, and the broken tool even flew over the teacher's head, making her laugh uncontrollably.

Summer said, "I can't take it anymore; let me laugh for a bit. I can't give you any advice right now. Maybe you should ask Evelyn."

When Summer mentioned Evelyn, Luna got curious, feeling that Summer and Evelyn had suddenly become close. Luna asked, "By the way, I haven't had the chance to ask you about the banquet you attended that night."

As soon as Luna mentioned the banquet, Summer slapped her thigh. Summer said, "It was absolutely amazing! You know I wanted to embarrass myself on purpose so my mom would never dare to take me to such banquets again, right? So I pretended to slip and knocked over the champagne tower. Over a hundred glasses of champagne fell, and I heard that the bottle opened that night was worth twenty thousand dollars. There was supposed to be a very important segment centered around the champagne tower, but I knocked it over.''

Summer continued, ''The Nelson family was furious but they couldn't show it. My mom dragged me to apologize. At that moment, Evelyn suddenly fainted, showing symptoms of what seemed like epilepsy, causing chaos at the scene. Since I had studied nursing, I went to help. Evelyn gave me a look, signaling me not to expose her, and she wouldn't expose that I knocked over the champagne tower on purpose. Then we made a deal. Now you are the witness and guardian of our secret."

Luna said, "What does this have to do with me?" Luna didn't expect the banquet to be so lively, but it was a pity she wasn't there. However, given her personality, she would feel suffocated if she had been there.

After hanging up Summer's call, Luna dialed Evelyn's number. Evelyn was bored at home and had been wanting to call Luna, so she was thrilled to receive Luna's call.

Evelyn said, "Luna, because of the banquet incident, I'm now grounded at home for reflection and haven't had a chance to go out. But now everyone knows I have epilepsy, so no one will dare to set me up on blind dates anymore. But I can't go see Charlie these days."

Luna was amused by Evelyn's words at the same time, thinking, 'Does her action cut the ground from under their feet?'

Luna said, "Then it's a good chance for you to calm down and contemplate, isn't it? It's a rare opportunity for you to let yourself settle down; you might gain something unexpected. By the way, I need your help with something."

Luna changed the subject and mentioned buying a gift, explaining her dilemma.

Evelyn thought for a moment and spoke with a hint of helplessness, "Luna, you know I've always been chasing Charlie but never succeeded. The gifts I sent were always returned. I don't have any successful experience in giving gifts to men. But since you two are married now, why not keep it practical and useful? Treat him to a meal. Or if you intend to buy a gift, make sure it's something he can use, like clothes or shoes."

Luna thought it made sense. Although she was very grateful to Charles, there was no need to make it too complicated; Charles might even dislike it.

Evelyn asked, "By the way, does your husband work at the Lee Group? Has he seen Charlie recently?"

Evelyn's question left Luna feeling helpless. Luna said, "He's just an ordinary employee. How could he have the chance to see Charlie? Their workstations are miles apart! If he could see Charlie anytime, I'd take your last name."

Almost as soon as Luna finished speaking, Charles walked in, just in time to hear her last sentence. Charles's face instantly tightened.
