Chapter 55 I'll Fight You to The End
Emily finally came to her senses, but it was not too late now.
"What do you want us to do?" Luna asked in a low voice.
"There's a camera in our living room. Bobby assaulted me there. I need each of you to make a copy of the footage as evidence for legal action later on.."
"Also, Bobby is in a better financial position than I am. They will definitely fight for Tommy's custody. I need to get that money back!"
"This house was bought by Bobby's parents. They initially said they had no money for renovations, so Bobby and I took $20,000 from our joint account to pay for the renovations."
"They're now trying to take credit for the renovations! The car purchased prior to marriage, worth $60,000 from my grandfather's inheritance, is being contested. Despite my initial disagreement, Bobby's persistent coaxing led to its replacement."
"But the new car was bought after the marriage, so it counts as our joint property! I must get that car back."
After Emily finished speaking, Luna and Summer both gasped.
They had heard of people taking advantage of marital assets before, but this was the first time they saw someone taking advantage of pre-marital assets for renovations and a car.
Emily was deeply in love with Bobby at the time, to the point where she was prepared to sever connections with her family and relinquish all she possessed to him.
One instance of domestic violence completely woke Emily up.
Everyone should have zero tolerance for domestic violence! Because if it happened once, it would happen again!
"No wonder you rarely contacted us after getting married. It turns out that you were living such a stifling life."
Summer's temper flared up again, and she wanted to grab Bobby and slap him a dozen times now.
"Summer, when Bobby comes back, don't get physical. Let Emily handle it! Emily hitting Bobby is a domestic issue between spouses, and she is the victim."
"If you get physical, it will be a different situation. We just need to keep the Hills from helping him."
Luna reminded Summer.
Summer snorted, "With both of us around, do you reckon they'd have the guts to resort to violence ??"
"You underestimate their shamelessness! After this trip back to Bobby's hometown, I truly saw how shameless they can be! But let's talk about that later."
As Emily gazed upon her slumbering son, the realization that he might become part of a one-parent household, potentially encountering stigma in his future quest for companionship, caused her heart to ache.
But domestic violence was her bottom line.
At that moment, footsteps and voices could be heard outside.
"Bobby's back!"
Emily heard Bobby talking to David and Wendy, and her body started trembling violently, making the red marks on her neck even more noticeable.
This was the aftermath of domestic violence.
Luna held her hand with concern, "Emily, if you don't want to face him, let's leave it for today! Come back when you're ready."
Luna was worried about her, afraid she couldn't handle it.
Emily stubbornly shook her head and said, "I've got this! Let him understand that if he doesn't take me down, he better be ready to face my retaliation! I'm hitting back today! Who does he think he is, entitled like that?"
After saying that, Emily got out of bed, rummaged through the bedroom, found a solid wood hanger, held it in her hand, nodded to Luna and Summer, and the next moment, she opened the door and rushed out.
"Bobby! I'm going to fight you!"
Emily almost leaped out, swinging the hanger and smashing it on Bobby's head.
Bobby was standing in the dining room talking to his parents. He was caught off guard and didn't react for a moment.
