Chapter 11 Guaranteed to Complete the Task
The dark figure was standing in front of the wardrobe, rummaging through something.
Luna raised her arm and struck the person hard on the back with a stick.
The other person let out a scream of pain.
Luna had already recognized who it was from the figure, and now hearing the voice, she was certain, but she didn't stop.
She kept beating the person from the bedroom to the living room, making him scream continuously.
"Stop! It's me!"
Luna's cousin Ethan Lewis shouted loudly.
The noise alarmed her aunt and uncle.
Ella turned on the living room light, and the couple looked horrified.
"What happened?" Travis Martin asked, his voice trembling.
"A thief broke into my room in the middle of the night to steal something! I'm teaching the thief a lesson!"
Luna, still gripping the baseball bat, faced a furious Ethan with a bleeding head and bruised arms.
"What valuable things could you possibly have in your room? Who would break into your room to steal?" Ethan shouted angrily, gasping in pain.
"Then why did you sneak into my room in the middle of the night without turning on the light?" Luna anticipated Ethan would make excuses.
"I... I heard some noise from Eric's room and thought he was having an episode, so I went in to check."
"Why would you be rummaging through the wardrobe if you were checking on Eric?"
Luna turned on the bedroom light. Eric, who had taken his medication, was sleeping soundly as usual. He was still asleep. The wardrobe was a mess, especially the section where she kept her underwear.
Luna had long known that her cousin Ethan had a fetish. Despite having a respectable job, he liked to steal her underwear.
He never knocked before entering her room, especially in the summer, and even tried to pry open the bathroom door while she was showering. After that, she never showered at Ella's house.
But on the surface, Ethan appeared clean-cut, wearing glasses and looking gentle and honest, but his soul was already rotten.
Every time Luna confronted him, Ella would defend her son, saying that because Ethan treated her like family, so he didn't consider such things.
"Luna, how can you suspect Ethan! We're all family. You've been living in my house for years. In the future, if you move to a place where cousin marriage is allowed and get married, we'll be a real family."
Ella defended Ethan, feeling heartbroken seeing the wound on his forehead. She couldn't help but voice her long-held thoughts.
She knew Ethan liked Luna who had a promising future.
Most importantly, if Ethan married Luna, there would be no costs involved. She could even have Luna hand over her paycheck for safekeeping.
As for Eric, Ella planned to persuade Luna to send him to a nursing home eventually, letting him fend for himself.
Ella's plans were clear, completely ignoring Luna's shocked expression.
"Ella, if Eric's illness can't be cured, I won't get married! Besides, even if I were to get married, I wouldn't marry a cousin! And I would never marry a pervert who likes to steal underwear!"
"Luna! Who are you calling a pervert? You should be grateful that I even consider you! I'm pitying you! There are plenty of girls at the company lining up for me!"
Ethan's eyes behind his glasses were dark and sinister. Despite his clean-cut appearance, he always gave off a calculating and gloomy vibe.
"Ethan is right! What's wrong with cousin marriage? It ensures the purity of the bloodline! I won't let you off easily for hitting Ethan! By the way, transfer next month's living expenses to me! Prices have gone up recently. Since you're almost done with your internship, you can't just give $3,000 anymore. From now on, you need to give an extra $1,000 each month!“
‘You know how troublesome Eric is. He needed constant care day and night and delicate dishes. Now I have to be frugal even with $4,000!"
