Helen had long figured out Ella's temper.
When it came to money, Ella freaked out.
"You... you want to blackmail me? I'm a civilized person! I'm just trying to reason with you! Let everyone judge! You posted our private conversation online! You've ruined my whole family! My son's job is now affected!"
"Who will dare to talk to you in the future? You set me up to say those things, but I was just venting. I didn't mean it! It's all your fault!"
"We're neighbors, and I often take care of you. Whenever I have good food, I bring you a bowl, and this is how you repay me! Who in this community will dare to talk to you now?"

Ella shouted at the top of her lungs.
She thought she had a point, but none of the neighbors said a word.
She seemed to have decent relations with people, but in reality, everyone was just being polite.
She was notorious for being stingy and showy.
Ever since Ethan got into a good company, he walked with his head held high, only greeting a few well-off elders in the community, completely ignoring those with ordinary status or retirees.
Ella couldn't stop talking about Ethan's company, especially in front of neighbors whose children didn't have great jobs.

"And I know you always make two portions of food, the meaty one for your family, and the one with more vegetables and less meat for the neighbors!"

"If you were sincere, I would accept it! But you always have a favor to ask! At least buy some decent gifts! You always cook us meals with leftovers!"
"Are you treating us like beggars?"
Helen took the opportunity to vent her frustrations.
Ella felt embarrassed instantly.
The food for her family was always meaty, with some scallions. For others, she would wait until the market was closing to pick up leftover vegetables and add a bit of meat, despite that, she felt it was too much.
After all, flour cost money too.
"Let me tell you, Ella! The video being exposed is your karma! If you want to know the reason, go ask Alice! She's the expert at this! I learned it from her!"
"Back then, she used this trick to prevent my mom from getting a house! She deliberately made my mom say bad things about the leader, and let the leader hear it, causing my mom to lose her last chance to get a house. She never got a permanent position before retirement and her pension is half of what a regular worker gets!"

Ella was stunned.
Alice, who had been sitting on the ground at the entrance. Once she kicked off a fuss, she wasn't budging unless a couple of folks tugged her up., wouldn't get up unless two or three people pulled her up. She would just sit there.
But hearing her name and the old incident, Alice quickly got up and ran into her room.
