Chapter 66 Those Who Understand, Understand
He had never thought he could listen to Luna's stories so patiently.
It had only been a few days, yet their relationship had changed significantly.
"On our search for the teacher, we ran into wolves—a first for us. Fortunately, the teacher, though trapped and unable to move, was close by. She guided us on dealing with the predicament.."
"We eventually won, but everyone got injured, and the teacher fainted from the pain. I was in the best condition at the time, so I carried all their hopes to find reinforcements ."
Luna glossed over the process of fending off the wolves, but in reality, the three of them had seen a therapist for a long time afterward.
Emily had to take a break from school due to her severe leg injury, and later, she couldn't choose her favorite job and major.
The danger of dealing with the wolves was self-evident.
Charles looked at her gently.
If she had excitedly boasted about how she fought the wolves and how capable she was, Charles wouldn't have wanted to listen.
But she never forgot that what she wanted to talk about was the friendship among the three of them, which was the main point.
"I ventured down the mountain solo, seeking aid, and eventually crossed paths with a shepherd. Together, we hastened to assist. I bore the teacher, the shepherd supported Emily and her injured leg, while Summer trailed behind us at a gradual pace.."
"When I put the teacher down and went to find Summer, I fainted halfway. Summer found me and brought me back."
"In the end, all three of us, along with the teacher, survived. I always knew that no matter who it was, we wouldn't easily give up on anyone. In such low temperatures, with communication equipment failing and food lost, we all survived. That was the beginning of our unbreakable friendship."
Luna finished speaking and signaled Charles to continue eating.
If she were to elaborate on this past event, it could take days and nights, but she chose to finish it in less than ten minutes.
Her way of expressing was meant for mature people who could understand.
Those who understood would naturally understand.
As for who didn't, there was no need to explain further.
Charles was silent for a moment, feeling touched, and his voice softened.
"Luna, it's essential for you to understand that individuals undergo transformations as they progress through various life phases.."
He wanted to remind Luna that Emily would be somewhat different after getting married and having children.
Luna nodded in agreement.
"You're right, but the core principles of a person don't change.”
“When Emily was being abused, Summer and I were waiting to see her attitude. If she chose to forgive, we would have left immediately. Indeed, one cannot rouse an individual feigning slumber.”
“But now that she's choosing to gather evidence for a divorce, as friends, we'll help her as much as we can. After all, she still has to take care of a one-year-old child."
Luna finished speaking and smiled at him. Her clear and beautiful features were bathed in the warm light, giving her a serene glow.
Charles was momentarily dazed.
"Eat it. The midnight snack is getting cold."
Luna signaled to Charles.
At that moment, there was a noise from Eric's room. Eric poked his head out from his wheelchair.
Eric said, "Luna ,I can smell it. It smells so good!"
Luna and Charles both fell silent.
He hadn't been sleeping. And he was waiting for his sister to finish her story so he could have a midnight snack.
Luna and Charles exchanged a smile. Just as she was about to give her snack to Eric, Charles raised his hand to stop her.
"I can't eat this much. I'll give half of mine to Eric."
Charles got up and went to the kitchen to get a bowl and fork. When he returned, he looked at Luna seriously, "I can get someone to look into your friend's matter. You have to work, you don't have time.""
His words left Luna momentarily stunned.
