Chapter 227 If He Wants Your Life, Will You Give It to Him Too?
Emily didn't know many luxury cars, but Danniel's car happened to be one she recognized.
She knew Danniel wasn't lying when he said a tire cost $2,500, and she even knew a mechanic who gave a friendly discount; otherwise, it would have been over $20,000.
"Sir, may I ask your name?" Emily tried hard to control her emotions and not embarrass herself.
Danniel's expression remained indifferent and cold. He originally intended to drive away, but seeing Emily standing there with her child, he felt a moment of compassion and told her.
"Just call me Mr. Lee."
"Mr. Lee, I will do my best to compensate you. Please wait a moment."
After saying this, Emily turned and dialed Bobby's number.
Her thoughts were simple: the person helped her, so he was a benefactor to her and Tommy.
Otherwise, she didn't know how long it would take to get a cab.
The doctor also said Tommy's condition was very dangerous earlier. When they arrived at the hospital, Tommy had a high fever and convulsions. If this had happened on the way, Emily would have been devastated.
So, no matter what, she couldn't let the benefactor bear the cost himself.
"What now? Calling me so late and still having the nerve to ask for something?!" Bobby's voice came through, full of disdain and annoyance.
Emily suppressed her anger and said, "I'm at the hospital! Tommy just finished his IV! Come to the hospital now; I have something to tell you."
Emily told Bobby about how Danniel helped take her and Tommy to the hospital, but got a flat tire.
"Transfer me $2,500; I need to compensate him."
As soon as Emily finished speaking, Bobby exploded.
"Are you crazy? Is your brain broken? $2,500! You think you can just give it away? Tommy is fine, isn't he? You act like he's going to get pneumonia! If it weren't for your fussing, a little medicine would have been enough. All kids get sick!
And just because he says it's $2,500, it is? If he asked for your life, would you give it?"
Bobby thought to himself, let alone $2,500, he didn't even have $300!
Emily had anticipated Bobby's shamelessness but didn't expect him to be so heartless to the child's benefactor.
"Mr. Lee's car hasn't moved since he dropped us off. The tire got punctured because he brought us here. The tire was fine when we got in. I have to compensate him!"
Emily was inherently stubborn.
She was the type who, if she hit a wall, would tear it down and keep going.
She believed it was her responsibility and was determined to gather the money to compensate Danniel.
"If you want to pay, do it yourself! It's your mess! Handle it yourself! Don't expect a penny from me! I work hard for my money, not for you to waste! Your lousy company hasn't paid you in three months, you live off me, and you can't even take care of a child! Now you want $3,500! Look at yourself! Do you think you're worth it?
Aren't you so capable? Can't you play the pity card? The guy drives such a nice car; his insurance alone costs thousands. Does he really need tire money? If he doesn't let you go, sit on the ground with the kid and cry! If that doesn't work, sit in front of the tire and fake an injury! Do you think he would dare run you over? I'm telling you, there's no money! I haven't even started with you yet! You keep causing me trouble!"
Bobby mercilessly berated Emily.
His tone was full of disdain and harshness.
Emily took a deep breath, trying hard not to collapse.
She shouldn't have called Bobby!
She thought he would at least have some fatherly concern for Tommy. Now it seemed Bobby was just a beast.
"Bobby, Mr. Lee didn't stop me from leaving! I feel it's my responsibility, and I should compensate!"
