Chapter 108 I Can't Sit by and Do Nothing

After Luna started her job, she immediately reached out to the lawyer Summer had recommended.

Ten minutes later, the lawyer, acting on Luna's behalf, sent over various screenshots, transfer records, shopping receipts, and details about Ella's living conditions that Luna had gathered.

They also included the expenses for Eric's medical treatment over the years and Luna's part-time income.

The most crucial piece of evidence was why Alice didn't want the compensation. It wasn't out of sympathy but because Luna's biological grandparents had forbidden Alice from taking it.

Additionally, they provided a recording and chat logs of Ella contacting the influencer FoodieFusion to stir up trouble online and defame Luna.

Lastly, there was a video from Charles showing Ella talking to a neighbor.

After sending all this, Luna clocked in and got ready to start work.

As soon as she walked into the office, she saw Joah and everyone else waiting for her.

Luna was taken aback. "What's this big gathering for?"

"Luna, I told everyone you'd be sending out evidence this morning, and they all wanted to see if there's anything they can do to help," Warren said first.

Luna smiled, patted Warren on the shoulder, and looked at Joah and the others.

She replied, "Thanks, Joah. Thanks, everyone. I've got it all sorted out, so no need to worry."

When the incident first happened, Joah and her colleagues at STF had called her, offering to help gather evidence.

She declined, not wanting to disturb their rest, and they didn't press further.

But everyone had come in early that morning.

"Joah, all the evidence has been sent out. I believe we'll get a response soon." Luna responded as she showed the evidence to Joah.

Joah nodded. "I always said you have a detective's mind. It's a pity you're not in law enforcement."

Luna smiled. For her, Eric's health was still the most important thing.

"The department will also issue a statement later to vouch for your character and work ability!" Joah explained the bureau's plans, and everyone went back to their tasks.

Warren wanted to say a few more words to Luna, but Joah called him away for a meeting.

He reluctantly said goodbye to Luna.

As soon as Luna sat down, Evelyn's call came in.

"Luna, I took the liberty of getting your trending topic taken down." Evelyn had acted without asking first.

Luna didn't know what to say.

Although many people online were criticizing her, those who knew her were protecting and helping her in their own ways.

"Ms. Nelson, please don't do that again. It's too much trouble for you."

Luna hadn't expected that Evelyn, whom she had only met two or three times, would go to such lengths to help her. She didn't know what to say.

After discussing their plans and agreeing to meet for a meal later, Luna hung up with Evelyn. Then Charles called. He had seen Luna take action and wanted to add fuel to the fire.

"I had a friend help collect the numbers and information of those who sent you and Eric abusive messages. There are 187 in total, and we've issued a lawyer's letter to sue them for defamation and personal attacks. I've already had the lawyer send it out."

Charles had already set Max in motion as he spoke.

He didn't give Luna a chance to refuse.

Hearing that it was already done, Luna was speechless. "You're telling me after the fact?"

Charles's voice was cool over the phone, but the slight curve of his lips showed he was in a good mood.

He added, "We are legally married. I can't sit by and do nothing. For this month, as long as it's not your fault, I'll take care of it."
