Chapter 33 Who Do You Think You Are
In fact, she had long known Warren's feelings and had hinted that he and Luna were not suitable.
Luna was already exhausted from taking care of Eric. How could she possibly marry someone younger and continue to take care of him?
In college, Luna turned down numerous suitors as she was busy looking after Eric, leaving her with no time or energy for a relationship.
Their family was well-off. If Luna married Warren, she wouldn't need to work to support the family.
But Luna had her pride.
Moreover, Summer knew her mother too well.
Her mother, so shrewd and eager to integrate into high society, would never accept Luna as a daughter-in-law.
When she brought Luna home during a college break, her mother didn't say anything at that time, but after Luna left, she told her to avoid associating with classmates from less affluent families.
She said it would lower her status.
Summer had a big fight with her mother and returned to school early.
Since then, her mother hadn't mentioned it again. But she would never approve of Warren dating Luna.
She understood Luna well enough. Luna seemed independent and strong, always bringing warmth to others, but that was precisely what she lacked.
The right man for Luna would be someone mature enough to lead her out of her past shadows.
After dinner, Luna didn't go shopping with Summer as she wanted to go back early to see Eric.
Since the restaurant was close to Mountain Vista Gardens, she didn't ask them to drive her. She walked back herself instead.
Warren watched Luna's departing figure, his gaze lingering for a long time.
When Luna got home, Charles was teaching Warren how to use a new astronomical telescope.
Luna greeted him and walked over to take a look.
The brand of the telescope startled her.
She knew this brand. The starting price was at least ten thousand dollars.
"This is a sample from my friend's store. I can rent it for a while, calculated monthly. It comes out to just a few dollars a day."
Charles knew what Luna was worried about and gave the excuse he had prepared.
Luna nodded. "It may be a sample , but it looks brand new."
Charles thought to himself,' of course, it is new!'
"The monthly rent is worth it since we won't use it for long. By the way, how much is it? I'll transfer the money to you."
Luna didn't plan on continuing her relationship with Charles after a month, so she didn't want to owe him any money.
"Come to the study with me. I have something to say."
Charles didn't respond to Luna's offer to transfer money. He usually had a financial advisor handle his personal finances.
"Okay."
Luna thought Charles was going to give her the account number, so she followed him to the study.
"My momwants to meet you. She doesn't believe we can get along for a month. Tomorrow, I hope you can help me put on a show. Go buy an outfit and shoes suitable for meeting the parents. I'll cover the cost."
Charles's tone was like giving Luna a work assignment.
Luna wanted to refuse, but when she thought that Charles had just rented the telescope for Eric and he treated Eric well, she swallowed her refusal.
"I'll buy the clothes myself, so you don't need to reimburse me. I can wear them later anyway, and I won't embarrass you."
"Okay, I have a few more conditions. As long as I'm around, my family won't make things difficult for you or say anything unpleasant. You can rest assured."
"But I hope you can hold on. Don't rush into blind dates, avoid ambiguous relationships, and don't hurry to find a boyfriend!"
As Charles finished speaking, Luna slapped the table.
