Chapter 44 A Rat Crossing the Street

"I don't apologize! I don't apologize! I did nothing wrong! He took my water gun! You're all blaming me unfairly! I'll kill you all!"

Rascal once again shocked everyone accompanied by various profanities.

Everyone frowned upon hearing this.

Mary, meanwhile, got even more excited and pointed at her son, asking Charles.

"Do you dare to hit him? Go ahead. Try it! He's just a kid! You can't afford to hit him!"

"Don't even think about laying a hand on me either! If I fall and break something here, you're finished! You hear me? Finished!"

Mary looked completely unrestrained.

Her son was just a bit mischievous. What's the big deal about spraying some water?

'Is it worth making such a fuss over a small matter?'Mary thought.

"Yeah! Come hit me! Hit me!!"Rascal also jumped up and down, taunting Charles.

Just as Charles was about to speak, Eric wheeled himself forward.

"Ma'am, I'm also a kid under eighteen! I can hit him!"

Eric recalled his sister's advice: never back down from bullies and never give in.

He knew that if his safety wasn't at stake, he shouldn't be afraid to stand up for himself.

With Charles around, he felt completely safe.

The Patels were stunned by Eric's words.

They knew the consequences of harming a disabled person, especially since the other party was also a minor.

"What bad luck! We shouldn't have gone out today!"

Finn cursed angrily and then grabbed Rascal by the collar.

"Apologize now! I've got a lot of things to do!"

Rascal refused to apologize immediately.

He tried to run but was held down by Finn.

He turned around and started cursing at Finn.

Finn, already in a bad mood from crawling out of a sewer, couldn't help but kick the kid.

Rascal completely lost  control. He jumped up and down, shouting.

"If you hit me again, I'm not gonna keep watch for you anymore! You're always here to steal stuff! You said if I came with you, no one would suspect a thing! If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be here! You..."

"Shut up! What nonsense are you spouting?"

Before Rascal could finish, Finn slapped him across the face.

Mary's face flushed crimson, and in a flash, the parents scooped up their wailing son and fled.

They were afraid of getting beaten if they stayed any longer.

Charles and Eric looked at each other.

That family would never dare come back here again!

They'd be like rats crossing the street, everyone wanting to beat them.

"Charles, don't tell my sister about what just happened,"Eric softly instructed Charles.

Charles nodded.

At that moment, Luna walked over with some seafood, sensing that something was off but unaware that she had missed quite a show.

Seeing her carrying so many things, Charles naturally took them from her.

They were now a couple, so he would do the heavy lifting whenever he could.

But as soon as he took the bags from Luna, Charles regretted it.

What did she buy ? It was so heavy.

"Sis, what did you buy?" Eric asked curiously.

Luna opened the bag and pointed to the fish inside, "All your favorites."

Charles looked at the fish in the bag and was stunned. He said, "These are fish?"

He wondered, what would be left after cutting off the heads and tails of such small fish?

Luna smiled, not embarrassed at all, but rather looking quite composed.

Because there was nothing shameful about eating small fish to her.
