Chapter 122 Wanting to Strangle Him Every Minute

"I gotta take this call." Luna greeted Evelyn and then picked up Charles' call.

"What do you need?" Luna almost called him "Mr. Lee" but caught herself.

Charles could hear the background noise, like she was in a restaurant.

"I want to get Eric a tablet and thought I'd get your opinion first since it's an electronic device. Are you out for lunch? With colleagues?"

Charles's words had a hidden meaning. He wondered if she might be having lunch with Warren.

Even though they weren't in the same department, they worked in the same building, so it was easy for them to run into each other.

Especially since Warren had a thing for her, he'd definitely find ways to bump into her.

"I'm having lunch with Ms. Nelson. Let's talk about the tablet when I get back." Luna didn't hide it from Charles.

"Alright, you go ahead."

Just as Charles was about to hang up, Luna's food arrived. She absentmindedly set her phone aside to help the waiter.

She forgot to end the call.

"Luna, is your husband also named Lee?" Evelyn asked curiously.

The surname was rare in Bright City.

"Yeah, his name's Charles. I asked if he had any connection to the Lee Group, and he joked they were family five hundred years ago, haha."

Luna didn't realize Charles heard everything.

"Luna, I didn't expect you to tie the knot at such a young age. How do you and your husband get along? Any tips I could use to win over Charlie."

Evelyn's words almost made Luna spit out her tea.

"Actually... we're secretly married and haven't gone public yet. Our relationship is polite but distant. He's arrogant, picky, and acts like a domineering CEO, but in reality, he's just an ordinary worker."

"When I first started interacting with him, I was beyond frustrated. I never knew what would set him off, and I constantly felt like strangling him!"

Evelyn was stunned by Luna's words.

On the other end, Charles was so angry he put down his fork, losing his appetite.

He'd been busy all morning and took the lunch break to call her about getting Eric a tablet, but she was badmouthing him in front of Evelyn!

Charles felt a wave of nausea from his anger.

"But, after spending more time with him, I realized he was warm-hearted inside, though it's like it's trapped behind a glass wall, distant from the real world."

Charles listened thoughtfully to Luna's later words.

He thought Luna might praise him a bit more, but that was it.

Charles hung up the phone with a dark expression before Luna could realize it.

'Arrogant? Picky?'

'What does she mean by acting like a domineering CEO? He's indeed an heir.'

Despite his frustration, Charles didn't want to stop Luna from making friends.

At least from previous events, it was clear that Luna's advice to Evelyn was effective.

Evelyn hadn't been pestering him today.

Charles understood Evelyn to some extent.

He couldn't give Evelyn even a glimmer of hope.

Because if he did, she would magnify it infinitely and imagine countless scenarios.

Evelyn wasn't a bad person. It was just that the environment of the Nelson family made her desperate to escape.

Once she saw someone who might help her break free from her original path, she wanted to hold on tightly.

But she didn't realize that to break free from the Nelson family, she had to rely on herself.

In this regard, she couldn't compare to Luna.

Charles, who had just been angered to the point of stomach pain by Luna, didn't realize that Luna had clearly taken up a place in his heart.

In the evening, Charles dialed Ashley's number.

Tonight, he wanted to formally introduce Luna to his family.
