Chapter 96 The Unbridgeable Gap

Evelyn glanced where Luna was pointing, never expecting to see Charlie Lee, the guy she'd been longing for, sitting in that car.

Tens of feet between them felt like an unbridgeable gap to Evelyn.

Even though Charles knew the car windows were tinted and no one could see inside, he instinctively lowered his seat.

"Ms. Nelson, it's late. You should go home and rest. I heard Mr. Lee is a workaholic. He just got back to Bright City and must have a lot on his plate. Pressuring him now might mess up his work. Why not try again in a few days?"

Luna patiently advised Evelyn, trying to calm her down before she approached Charlie again.

Evelyn found Luna's words made a lot of sense.

Luna always managed to pinpoint the key issues she overlooked.

Evelyn nodded, "Luna, you're right. I also heard he's at a critical stage of a biotech project recently. What I'm doing is a bit selfish. I'm only thinking about myself. I'll go back and reflect on this. I'll come back to see him next week."

Although Evelyn was reluctant, she agreed with Luna's advice.

In fact, she had been reflecting on herself since she went back last time. This time, she just wanted to have a good talk with Charlie, but unfortunately, he didn't give her the chance.

"Do you want my husband to drive you home?" Luna felt it was unsafe for Evelyn to go back alone so late.

As soon as she said this, Mike and the other bodyguards widened their eyes.

If Evelyn knew that Mr. Lee was Luna's husband, what kind of disaster would that be?

"No need, my car is just across the street. Don't worry. I won't speed or drive recklessly. I'm still waiting to meet him and clear things up."

Evelyn was much calmer than the last time they met.

Her family didn't understand her and mocked her, saying she only knew how to cling to Charlie. The Nelson family never told her what was the right thing. Now that someone was telling her, she cherished this friendship.

"That's good. Take it slow. Call me when you get home," Luna said, feeling reassured by Evelyn's stable emotions.

"Okay, Luna, can I add you on Facebook?"

"Sure."

Luna readily took out her phone and added Evelyn on Facebook, leaving Mike and the others speechless with shock.

No matter how many words others said, Ms. Brown could persuade Evelyn in just a few sentences.

What an incredible fate!

"Be careful on your way back. Next time, I'll introduce you to my husband," Luna said, causing Mike and the driver Nick to exchange glances.

Even someone as powerful and imposing as Mr. Lee wouldn't be able to handle this situation, right?

Ms. Nelson, who had secretly loved him for ten years, had become good friends with Mr. Lee's nominal wife!

After Evelyn turned and left, Luna went to find Charles. At this moment, Max was getting off work and suddenly saw Luna. Max shivered, thinking he couldn't let Luna see him there.

Instinctively, Max jumped into the empty space behind him.

Who knew it was a fountain pool? With a splash, Max was soaked in the water.

In November in Bright City, during the transition from autumn to winter, Max was now soaking in the cold water.

Charles witnessed this scene, started the car without changing his expression, and waited for Luna to get in.

Luna heard the noise and curiously glanced over but didn't see anyone. She then opened the car door and got in.

As Charles drove away from the building entrance, Mike and two bodyguards ran over to fish Max out of the fountain pool.

Max thought to himself, 'It's lucky that I can swim.'

Inside the car, Luna was about to add Evelyn's name to her Facebook contacts when she suddenly received a lot of text messages. Opening them, Luna's face changed.

All these messages were from unknown numbers, and they were all cursing her.
