Chapter 151 The Various Wonders of Fate
Charles and Luna had been giving each other the cold shoulder for days. During this time, Charles was buried in work, barely sleeping a few hours each night. His workaholic nature made things tough for his bodyguards.
Mike and the crew were suffering but didn't dare remind him to take a break. Nick had gotten chewed out before just for washing the car on a cloudy day, and they didn't want to risk it.
When Danniel walked into Charles's office, the bodyguards saw a glimmer of hope. Maybe Danniel could change things, though it was a long shot. Charles was staring at a text message from Sandra, saying Luna had an operation tonight and wouldn't be back at a specific time. Luna asked Sandra to take Eric home. And Sandra wanted to know if she should stay the night or leave Eric alone.
After reading the text message, Charles didn't reply and sat in silence for a long time. He'd been reflecting on his attitude towards Luna. Was he too harsh that day?
"What's up? Love troubles?" Danniel asked, seeing Charles staring blankly at his phone. He had never seen Charles so conflicted.
Even in tough negotiations, Charles remained unflappable and decisive. Trained by his grandfather to be the Lee family's successor. To Daniel, Charles often seemed like a robot—methodical and unhurried, yet devoid of warmth. No wonder he was still single at twenty-seven or twenty-eight.
Charles locked his phone and leaned back. "Do I look like I'm troubled by love? Is that even possible?" he said stubbornly.
Danniel spread his hands, looking regretful. "I was thinking of introducing you to a girl. She's cute, righteous, and kind-hearted. But I heard your mom introduced you to a girl named Anna."
Charles's face turned cold. "If she's that great, you can keep her for yourself."
Danniel sighed. "I'm old enough to be her father. But the girl I was going to introduce is Luna, the one trending recently."
Charles, about to start working on his computer, suddenly stopped. He looked up, shocked. "What did you say? You know Luna?"
Danniel was puzzled. "What? You know her too?"
"Danniel, how do you know her?" Charles asked, unusually polite.
Danniel explained how he met Luna. Charles understood. "So you were that passenger." No wonder he saw two boxes of pig trotters at home! The pig trotters he gave to Luna ended up back with him.
Charles felt their fates were connected. He didn't know even more incredible things were waiting for him.
"Danniel, the one I got the marriage certificate with wasn't Anna, it was Luna." Charles briefly explained how he and Luna mistakenly got the marriage certificate.
Seeing the turmoil in Charles's eyes, Danniel asked, "Charlie, are you fighting with Luna? I've seen a lot in my time. I might not always be spot on, but I'm usually close. Want some advice?"
