Chapter 94 He Can't Control Luna's Heart
"How much evidence have you got so far?" Charles now knew someone had been watching his wife all along!
"Recordings, screenshots, transaction records, and online shopping receipts. I don't want to upset Grandma's family, so tomorrow Summer and I will compile everything and decide if we should send it out on Monday."
"Do whatever you need to do. I've got your back."
Charles already had a plan. He'd secretly help her investigate and tell her once he had the results.
"Thanks, but it's really unfair to you. They keep saying I'm keeping a gigolo! They say you're living off a woman. They should see if there's any gigolo as strong and domineering as you!"
Luna joked, and Charles felt his heart race.
Luna's gaze seemed to say so much. It was just a joke, and he knew he shouldn't take it seriously.
Given his personality, he shouldn't care about these words, but he found himself looking forward to Luna joking with him like this.
Her presence had added color to his previously rigid life.
From initially rejecting and nitpicking her, he had gradually come to recognize and accept her.
It seemed everything was still within his control, but he knew he couldn't control Luna's heart.
"Let's have dinner. I need to go out later."
Luna invited Charles to dinner. Hearing she was going out, he frowned, asking, "It's so late. Where are you going?"
"I need to pick up a translation document to earn some extra money. Summer got me this job, and I can make eight hundred dollars from it."
Luna thought that with this sum of money, she and Eric could rent a place in a month. Renting an old ground-floor apartment near the police station without an elevator would only cost about two hundred dollars a month, enough to cover six months' rent.
"I'll drive you. It's too late."
Charles didn't give Luna a chance to refuse. After dinner, he grabbed his keys and was ready to go.
"Where are you picking it up?" he asked while putting on his shoes.
"Horizon's Reach Tower, Building A."
Luna's words made Charles pause for a few seconds.
He pondered, 'Isn't this my company? Luna was earning extra money from my company?'
Charles's mouth twitched. He asked again, "Horizon's Reach Tower?"
"Yes, it's a project Summer's father took on. Some translation materials need to be outsourced anyway, so he gave them to me. I took a minor in a foreign language in college, so it comes in handy."
Luna urged Charles to leave as she finished speaking.
Hearing Summer's father's name, Charles understood what was going on.
Summer's father was a biologist, and the Lee Group had a project for which he was a consultant. Some materials sent from Yulanda indeed required professional translation in Yulanda's language.
Charles drove Luna to the bottom of Horizon's Reach Tower. Luna got out to pick up the documents, which were handed to her by Summer's father's assistant, who also gave her a few instructions.
Charles stayed in the car, as it was inconvenient for him to get out. After all, the building's security and employees recognized him.
The Rolls-Royce convoy was not far behind him. Employees leaving work saw the convoy and thought Charlie hadn't left yet. The security guard at the entrance was puzzled, thinking, 'Didn't Mr. Lee leave before noon? He hasn't come back!'
No one could have guessed that their high-and-mighty Mr. Lee was currently nestled in a twenty-thousand-dollar electric car, watching the slender figure at the building's entrance with gentle and calm eyes.
"Charlie!" Suddenly, a somewhat familiar voice rang in his ears.
