Chapter 165 Farewell to the World
In the hospital smoking area, Warren bought a pack of cigarettes and was about to light one when Joah snatched it from him.
Joah grabbed Warren's arm and dragged him out. "I told you, no smoking! Do you think my words just fall on deaf ears?"
Joah then gave Warren a hard slap on the head. Warren rubbed his head, lowered it, and stayed silent.
"What's up with you lately? Is it because of... Luna?" Joah asked, noticing Warren's odd behavior. Warren had seemed fine until he saw Charles hug Luna.
Warren's face darkened at the mention of Luna. "Joah, I've known Luna for years. I thought I understood her. But why would she hug someone she mistakenly got a marriage license with? They don't even click."
"I know you see Luna as family. I feel partly responsible too. The signal went out that day, causing this mess. Luna came to me later, but I thought she was joking and didn't take it seriously," Joah admitted, feeling guilty. If he had caught the problem earlier, he might have fixed it.
Luckily, Charles seemed like a decent guy. "Luna told me she plans to divorce him in a month. I hope it goes smoothly."
Warren had thought of many scenarios over the past few days. If Charles refused to divorce, he'd help Luna get out of the marriage by any means.
"When the time comes, I'll talk to the department about issuing a report. Luna shouldn't bear the consequences of the mistaken marriage license alone," Joah said, ready to face any reprimand to help Luna.
"Let's hope so," Warren said, shaking his head. He had a feeling there were endless possibilities between Luna and Charles. He hoped he was just overthinking it.
In a chic loft apartment, FoodieFusion applied eye drops before sitting in front of his live stream. He started fake crying.
"Dear followers, this might be my last stream. I can't take it anymore. I'm sorry."
"I was just a small-time food vlogger, and because of your love, I gained millions of followers. I cherish everything I've achieved, so I wanted to give back."
"But this time, I was misled and deceived. I don't know who hacked my account and took that money. I know my words mean nothing now, but I'm innocent. You guys blame me without knowing the truth, dismiss all my past efforts. Have you ever thought about how I feel?"
"If I die today, none of you are innocent! When an avalanche occurs, not a single snowflake is innocent."
He then grabbed a white bottle and poured all the pills into his mouth—about twenty or thirty of them.
"Farewell to the world."
He knocked over his phone, turning off the camera, and spat the pills onto the table. He wiped the eye drops off his face and stared at his phone with a sinister look.
Did they think the Luna incident would bring him down? Dream on! He knew how to manipulate public opinion; the public doesn't care about right or wrong, only sympathizing with the seemingly weaker side.
Fifteen minutes later, as FoodieFusion waited to trend on social media, there was a sudden knock on the door. He looked through the peephole and saw the police. His heart skipped a beat.
