Chapter 207 How Much Did She Pay You
Luna yanked Luke just in time. He missed the sharp corner but still hit the ground pretty hard. Cassandra let out a sigh of relief and rushed over to help him up.
Ethan, looking pissed, snapped at Luna, "Luna! What the hell? You even hit Luke! Are you out of your mind?"
Cassandra shot him a glare. "Ethan, Luna was trying to help. If she hadn't, Luke would've been seriously hurt!"
Ethan, not expecting Cassandra to back Luna up, shot back, "Cassandra, you were too far to see. Luna pushed him. Don't stir things up!"
Emily chimed in, "Ethan, is the video on my phone also too far away to see?" She waved her phone, and Ethan's face went pale.
Cassandra helped Luke up and scolded him, "You're a grown man and you still don't get when you're being played!" She had seen the whole thing and knew what was up.
Ethan stammered, "Luke, I..."
Luke cut in, "Don't blame Ethan. He just didn't react fast enough. He didn't ignore me on purpose."
Cassandra stomped her foot in frustration. "How did I end up with such a fool like you?"
Luna said, "Cassandra, take Luke home, but don't let this happen again! I helped him because of you. I remember when our parents had their accident, and no one was there for Eric and me except you. You stayed with us all night. Consider this a favor repaid."
Cassandra nodded. Ethan still wanted to stir things up, but Cassandra pulled Luke away. He was limping from a twisted ankle.
Ethan looked frustrated. It had been hard enough to get Luke out, and now he'd lost a good chance. But at least he knew where Luna lived now. He could find her anytime.
At Luke's house, Alice and Ella showed up pretending to visit. Seeing the two bags of pasta they brought, Cassandra sneered. She thought, 'Who visits a patient with just two bags of pasta? They are probably about to expire.'
Alice said, "My dear son, look at your swollen foot! That little witch Luna! She did this to you! We can't let her get away with it! We should sue her!"
Alice made a scene by the bed, almost hitting Luke's sprained ankle several times. He winced in pain. Luke said, "Mom, I fell on my own. Luna didn't trip me."
As soon as he said that, Alice and Ella got all worked up. Alice said, "You were too busy talking to Luna to remember clearly. Ethan saw it. That little witch tripped you when you weren't paying attention. Why else would she be so kind to pull you? It was all an act!"
Alice was good at brainwashing. After her words, Luke started to doubt himself. Maybe he should believe Alice and Ella.
Cassandra whispered, "Luke, I was there too. Before you fell, Luna didn't touch you. She pulled you when you were about to hit the sharp corner." She didn't want him to keep getting brainwashed and used by his family.
Alice snapped, "Bullshit! Why are you defending that little witch? Tell me! How much did she pay you?"
