Chapter 176 Lost All Face

Wendy's really full of herself, wanting Luna's number.

Emily acted all cool. "I told you not to wait around seven or eight, but you insisted. How can you blame Luna? I said she might be busy till late. Guess you two weren't meant to have dinner."

Emily smiled and went back inside.

Seeing Wendy all frustrated made Emily feel good.

Wendy was fuming in the living room but couldn't admit she set Luna up. She had to swallow her pride.

Just then, her phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, Wendy felt a headache coming on.

It was Alice.

She had no choice but to go out and meet them.

Alice saw Wendy running out and waved at her, not even bothering to wipe her nose.

Wendy forced a smile and awkwardly said, "Alice, Luna's not coming tonight... She said she's still busy. I just found out. You should head home."

"What? She's not coming?!" Alice and Ella both shouted in unision.

"Wendy, we've been standing here in the cold for five or six hours, and now you say she's not coming? Are you kidding me? I trusted you! I even gave you two boxes of sea cucumbers! And you can't even get Luna here for a meal? How am I supposed to deal with you in the future?"

Alice was furious after waiting all night for her granddaughter and not seeing her.

Wendy retorted, "Alice, don't say that. I've been arranging this all day. She has a task, and it's out of my control. I spent over three hundred dollars on seafood."

"How about this? I know where her police station is. I'll go with you tomorrow to catch her at work. Emily said she's always there. She must've used another door, so you missed her." Wendy wanted to make things right.

Alice and Ella exchanged glances, a bit distrustful, but had no other choice. They heard Luna's old house demolition compensation might come early, and they needed to settle things with her.

"Alright, let's give it another shot tomorrow."

Alice was cold, hungry, dizzy, and nauseous. She just wanted to go home and lie down.

"Alice, you haven't paid for the seafood tonight! We didn't eat any. How about I pack it up for you?" Wendy was still thinking about the money; she couldn't afford to lose both the money and the effort.

Alice waved her hand, looking impatient.

"If we see Luna tomorrow, I'll pay you. I'm not someone who shirks debts. Just keep it in the fridge for now." Alice said.

With that, she walked away without looking back.

Wendy was heartbroken, afraid Alice wouldn't pay.

Early the next morning, Wendy was waiting at the entrance of Luna's workplace. At eight, she saw Luna enter through the side door and immediately called Alice.

"Alice, I saw Luna. She went in through the side door. Luckily, I knew this used to be a dairy farm with a side door. Come over at noon; she has to go out for lunch."

Wendy hung up and sighed in relief. She finally wouldn't lose all that money on the seafood.
