Chapter 230 It's Hard to Be a Good Person

Emily remembered that there should have been over seven hundred dollars in her account, but now she couldn't transfer the money. Not wanting to waste Danniel's time, she used the cash Luna had given her to make the payment.

"Thank you, Mr. Lee."

After successfully making the payment, Emily got out of the car with her child and thanked him repeatedly.

Danniel frowned and couldn't help but say, "You look like you're in your twenties, but you've let yourself get into such a mess. You should reflect on that."

With that, he turned the car around and left.

Emily, with red-rimmed eyes, held Tommy and turned to walk back.

She vowed never to let herself be in such a state again. However, the process of breaking through and changing was bound to be painful, full of many twists and thorns.

While waiting at a red light, Danniel glanced at the back seat and couldn't help but gag, almost throwing up.

Although Emily had wiped it once, it was still very noticeable after it dried.

Danniel muttered, "Being a good person is really tough!"

On Luna's side, after work, she found out that Eric wouldn't be joining them for dinner, so she told Charles to go to the restaurant by himself while she went to the mall to buy him a gift.

Luna rarely went shopping, and even less so in the men's section, but now she had to muster up the courage to browse.

Seeing a mid-to-high-end men's clothing counter that matched Charles's usual style, Luna walked in.

"Hello, welcome," the store clerk greeted with a signature smile.

Luna smiled back and wandered over to the cufflinks section.

"Is it for your boyfriend or an elder? I can help you choose," the clerk, noticing that Luna didn't seem to shop often, offered help enthusiastically.

"I want to buy... a pair of cufflinks for my husband."

Luna felt awkward saying "husband," but it was the truth.

"You can check out our new arrivals, which are currently 20% off and very suitable for young people."

The clerk recommended a few options to Luna. She had come specifically for accessories like cufflinks and tie clips.

Since she didn't know his size or preferences for clothes and pants, and although he usually wore dark colors, his clothes didn't have any brands, Luna guessed they were custom-made. She worried that he might not be comfortable in off-the-rack clothes, but small accessories like cufflinks had fewer limitations.

"These look nice. I'll take..."

"I want these. I'll take them."

Before Luna could finish her sentence, a delicate yet domineering female voice interrupted. A fair hand quickly reached between Luna and the clerk, trying to take the cufflinks.

At the same time, the woman's arm "accidentally" knocked Luna's bag off the counter, sending it to the floor.

Luna quickly grabbed the cufflinks and set them aside, then turned to see who it was.

Their eyes met, and Luna was momentarily puzzled before she recognized the woman.

Anna, with her chin raised and eyes full of resentment, wore a facade of innocence.

"So it's you! Are you shopping too? The clothes here aren't cheap; even a pair of cufflinks costs two or three hundred dollars."

Anna spoke first, implying that Luna couldn't afford them.

Luna glanced at her bag on the floor, her eyes cold and piercing.

Anna pouted, looking even more innocent.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I accidentally knocked your bag down. Good thing it's not a branded one. But if you need, I can pay for the dry cleaning. Is ten dollars enough? After all, anything more would be worth more than your bag."

As she spoke, Anna deliberately brought her own cross-body bag to the front.

Her bag cost over three hundred dollars, enough to buy Luna's bag several times over.
