Chapter 14 The Masquerade Ball
"I can handle this small matter! You step aside."
Charles thought，‘as a man, I could handle getting a sick child into the car by myself, so there is no need for her to help.'
But Luna interpreted it as him not accepting Eric!
This woman, always so self-righteous!
Even if he didn't like Luna and he wouldn't have any relationship with her, but now that she was his wife, there were some things he had to do as a husband.
Charles bent down to lift Eric into the car but had trouble folding the wheelchair.
The elders in the family had used wheelchairs before, but weren't these things supposed to fold automatically?
When pressing a button, it would fold up to the size of a briefcase.
"Let me do it. This wheelchair is an older model and needs to be folded manually."
Luna saw Charles in trouble and took over the wheelchair. She quickly folded it and put it in the trunk.
Seeing Charles in his suit carrying Eric into the car, Luna was somewhat moved.
As long as he didn't dislike Eric, she was willing to give it a try for a month.
The bodyguards in the shadows were all shocked at this moment.
Mr. Lee was doing physical labor!
Although Mr. Lee often worked out, this was the first time he had done something like this.
With Eric and the luggage in the car, Charles started driving. Luna was about to sit in the back seat when Charles turned around and glared at her, "Do you really think I'm your driver?"
Luna didn't say anything.
She just felt that she wasn't familiar with Charles, and she would be awkward sitting in the front seat . Who knew he was so petty!
Luna was about to get out and sit in the front seat when Charles waved his hand with a cold face, "Just sit there! Switching seats wastes time! I'm very busy!"
Luna inwardly cursed this man who said one thing but meant another!
Charles always had a face as cold as ice, with an inexplicable arrogance.
Before Luna could get angry, he handed Eric a bottle of juice and then focused on driving.
"Thank you."
Eric struggled to say the two words. He was only mildly intellectually disabled and had difficulty moving, but he could feel when others were kind to him.
Luna also felt that Charles's attitude towards Eric was much better than towards her.
The car drove for more than half an hour before arriving at Charles's residential area, Mountain Vista Gardens.
This was a mid-range gated community combining high-rise buildings and townhouses.
The community boasted kindergartens, elementary and middle schools, along with seven or eight public transportation routes at its entrance, ensuring convenience.
The only issue was the tight underground parking.
Charles had bought this place after agreeing to register with Anna. It was a fully furnished townhouse with four floors. Charles bought the third floor, and the shop in the middle of the high-rise next to the townhouse was the cafe he mentioned.
There was no elevator at the four-story townhouse. Charles carried Eric while Luna followed behind with two suitcases, the wheelchair slung over her arm, all the way up to the third floor.
She had been an excellent student at the police academy and was in good physical shape.So she went up to the third floor in one go.
At the door, Charles put Eric in the wheelchair, opened the door, and waited for Luna to push Eric inside. While he stood at the door, looking proud.
"This is my home. You can choose any room except the master bedroom. My room is off-limits, including the master bathroom! If you need anything, call me. If you can't reach me, go to the cafe and find Sandra Collins. She's the one I hired to look after the place."
After saying this, Charles turned to leave.
"Wait a minute, Mr. Lee. You've had your say. Now it's my turn."
Luna signaled him to wait, pushed Eric into one of the bedrooms, and then came back out. Charles looked impatiently at his watch.
"Mr. Lee, I..."
"You have one minute. Speak quickly."
His attitude towards Luna was like that of a superior to a subordinate who wasn't performing well.
He actually hadn't yet adapted to his role as someone else's husband.
