Chapter 86 Trust Me
Eric's face was ghostly pale, veins popping on his forehead as he yelled at the two orderlies.
His voice was shot from all the shouting.
He wished the whole world could hear him.
The orderlies, spooked by Eric's outburst, slunk away.
Luna turned and hugged him, trying to calm him down.
"Eric, don't do this. You can't get too worked up, or they'll keep you here again. Remember last night? You said you hate this place and just want to go home to paint and watch the stars."
Luna's soothing words gradually calmed Eric, and his breathing steadied.
"Sis, I heard you talking to Summer on the phone. Are we in big trouble? Those orderlies wouldn't have said that stuff about you otherwise."
Eric grabbed Luna's hand, desperate to help her.
"Luna, I can record a video to clear things up. I can even hold a press conference..."
The more Eric talked, the more agitated he got, until he was breathing so hard he fainted.
"Eric, you need to rest. Remember my job? I'm a pro at gathering evidence. Give me a few days. Trust me."
Luna tried to comfort him, but Eric still looked downcast.
He always felt like he was causing trouble for Luna.
If he hadn't insisted on checking out that new store, he wouldn't have run into Ella and Alice, and Luna wouldn't be in this mess.
"Luna, I want to go home." Eric's voice was muffled. He couldn't stand the hospital another minute.
"Alright, let's go home."
Luna handled the discharge papers, called Sam for a ride, and sent Eric home first. Charles wasn't home, and she didn't want to see him. After settling Eric in, she went to her grandmother's old neighbor to gather information.
At Emily's house that evening, Bobby came home from work, and Emily, having made dinner, sat down with the baby.
The couple exchanged a glance but said nothing, like strangers.
Bobby's parents glared at Emily.
Her husband had worked all day, and she didn't even greet him or offer him slippers. It was infuriating!
The more Wendy looked, the angrier she got. After Bobby sat down, she piled half a plate of roasted pork ribs into his bowl, and the picked out the best pieces for David Hill.
Seeing the ribs she had worked hard on reduced to just two meager pieces in her bowl, Emily's face stayed blank. She just focused on feeding her son.
Wendy, seeing Emily's silence, got even more excessive, transferring all the fresh veggies from a salad plate into her family's bowls, leaving Emily with only wilted leaves.
Then, Wendy turned to his son, "Bobby, did you see the trending news? That Luna, turns out she's that kind of woman! She keeps a thug on the side and exploits her own brother! Her grandma's sick, and she doesn't even visit. "
"She's so heartless! With her character, she still tries to stand up for others! She should learn to be a decent person first!"
Wendy spoke with spittle flying, feeling triumphant.
Seeing the trending news today had made her day, and she couldn't wait to share it with Emily.
Emily's face instantly darkened.
"I saw the news too, and I asked Luna about it. The real story isn't what's being spread online! Anyone can see the video was edited! The truth will come out soon!" Emily spoke calmly. She absolutely believed in Luna.
Wendy retorted, "She's your friend. Of course, you're going to side with her! I knew from the first glance she wasn't decent! Her aunt and grandma better not let her off! They need to make sure she loses her job!"
