Chapter 201 Have You Fallen for Luna?
After Charles finished talking, Ashley looked totally shocked and speechless.
Charles said, "Mom, you've never liked Luna from the start. No matter what she does, you always look down on her. But I trust Luna. These photos don't mean anything."
Then Charles turned to the butler behind him. "Find out who this guy is."
"Got it," the butler said, and got right on it.
Ashley just stood there, frozen. Charles continued, "Mom, you can keep digging into Luna, but don't bother showing me the results. I can make my own decisions. Besides, I've already made up my mind. In a month, I'm staying with Luna. This isn't to make you happy or because I don't want a second marriage. I genuinely want to be with Luna."
When Charles finished, Ashley snapped out of her daze. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. In less than a month, Charles had changed his mind. She thought he'd be ready to divorce Luna as soon as the month was up.
Ashley asked, "Charles, have you fallen for Luna?" She couldn't quite put her feelings into words. She only had one son, and she wanted to pick a daughter-in-law she approved of. Luna and Charles getting married was a mistake from the start, and she hoped it would be fixed quickly.
Anna wasn't perfect either, but at least Ashley understood her and got along with her. If Anna became her daughter-in-law, there'd probably be fewer conflicts. Charles's cold nature wouldn't mesh well with any woman, so it was better to pick someone who wouldn't cause trouble for the Lee family and got along with her. But things didn't go as planned.
Ashley's question made Charles pause for a moment. Then he said, "I don't know what it feels like to like someone. I'll let you know when I figure it out." Ashley went quiet.
Charles had just gotten back to his room when the butler knocked and came in. "Mr. Lee, this guy is Bobby."
Hearing the name, Charles remembered. "Bobby?" Luna had mentioned him when talking to Summer. Bobby was a domestic abuser. This time, Bobby was probably looking for Luna's help with something.
Charles ordered, "Look into Bobby thoroughly." He knew Emily was currently divorcing Bobby, and Luna had mentioned she was secretly gathering evidence to help Emily. Emily and Luna were like sisters. If he could help, Charles wouldn't hesitate.
The butler nodded. "Yes, Mr. Lee."
The butler was about to leave when Charles called him back. Charles said, "I have a friend who's dealing with some relationship issues, and I don't know how to help him. Got any ideas?"
After Charles finished, the butler gave a knowing smile. He thought, 'Mr. Lee has a friend... Could it be that this friend was actually Mr. Lee himself?' With a professional look, the butler listened carefully to Charles's description of the relationship troubles.
Charles said, "My friend signed a one-month contract with his wife, basically a fake marriage. But now that the month is almost up, he wants to extend it, but his wife doesn't seem to want that. His wife has a childhood friend who's always had a crush on her and is waiting for her to get divorced. He thinks the reason he doesn't want his wife to get close to this childhood friend is that during this one-year period, they're still married and shouldn't do anything to harm the marriage. Do you think this means he likes his wife? Or is he just trying to keep up appearances?"
