Chapter 27 Come to the Rescue

Luna had just put Charles' clothes back when the phone rang urgently.

Seeing the caller ID, Luna knew she was in for it.

"Summer."

After answering the call, Luna sweetly called out.

Expecting a scolding from her best friend Summer, she hadn't mentioned the mix-up with the marriage license.

Instead, Warren found out first.

With Summer's temper, she wouldn't let her off easily.

"You still remember my name is Summer? I thought you had forgotten about me! I'll give you a chance to explain yourself!"

She was as sharp as ever.

"Let's talk in person," Luna said gently.

"Fine! See you in an hour at Peninsula Coffee in Pearl Plaza."

Before Luna could say anything, Summer hung up in a hurry.

Luna was a bit stunned.

She had thought Summer would berate her before hanging up.

This was a bit unlike her usual self.

Although Luna felt that Summer was acting a bit strange today, she still handed Eric over to Sandra and went out.

Sandra was still indifferent to her, but Eric didn't mind going to Sandra's place. It seemed Sandra was just cold by nature but still treated Eric well.

The place Summer chose was downtown, and it would take an hour by bus. Since she was worried about being late, Luna reluctantly hailed a ride.

After getting in the car, the driver greeted her politely. In the front passenger seat sat a middle-aged man in business attire, who glanced at Luna before looking back at his phone.

Luna instinctively sat in the back left seat.

The driver took a slight detour to pick up another passenger.

The woman on the phone requested the driver to enter a narrow alley. The driver warned her about the tight space, making a U-turn difficult, and advised her to walk out instead.. Because it was only about 66 feet .

But the woman refused, saying she had a lot of stuff and it was inconvenient.

The driver didn't say much and carefully drove into the alley. It was a two-lane road with private cars parked on both sides, so the driver slowed down considerably, dreading the thought of having to back out later.

At the destination, a young woman in a white dress with a backpack and flowing long hair was standing by the roadside. She wasn't holding anything in her hands.

The woman waved and got in the car, first glancing at the back seat. She didn't say anything but quickly glanced at Luna.

Then she looked at the middle-aged man in the front passenger seat.

"Sir, could you switch seats with me? I get car sick and can't sit in the back. Thank you."

Anna spoke sweetly. She had delicate features and a pleasant voice. She always knew how to use these advantages.

Luna was texting Warren. She couldn't help looking up when she heard Anna's request.

To be honest, even though it was a shared ride, Luna also hoped the person sitting next to her would be a girl. Because it felt weird to sit with a stranger of the opposite sex.

But since she chose a car sharing, she had to accept the rules.

So Luna didn't say anything.

She thought the middle-aged man in the front seat would readily switch with Anna Greene, but to her surprise, he coldly refused.

"I get car sick too. No switch."

The driver looked at Anna but said nothing.

Luna kept her head down and stayed silent.

Anna's prepared words of showing gratitude got stuck in her throat.

A look of disbelief flashed in her eyes.

No man had ever refused her request before.

"Sir, it's just a half-hour ride. Could you please let me sit in the front? I really get car sick and I'm afraid I'll throw up in the car. Thank you."

Anna was persistent and couldn't believe her charm would fail.

"Yeah, you said it's just half an hour. Hang in there, and we'll be there soon! If you really get car sick that badly, why did you choose a shared ride? Wouldn't it be better to get your own ride?"

The middle-aged man retorted, leaving Anna speechless.
