Chapter 72 Not a Child of the Brown Family
Luna hung up and immediately blocked the unknown number.
The action was seamless.
Evelyn watched in admiration.
"Luna, you're so cool."
Evelyn had momentarily forgotten her own heartbreak. She was in awe of Luna's clear and clean comeback without a single curse word.
Ella's accusations against Luna over the phone were also heard by Evelyn. Upon closer inspection, she found that they were full of holes and couldn't withstand scrutiny.
Luna sighed helplessly and said, "Every family has its own problems."
Evelyn wanted to raise both hands and feet in agreement.
"So, does this mean we've exchanged secrets? Are we good friends now?"
Evelyn looked at Luna with hopeful eyes.
Luna couldn't help but laugh.
The anger she felt from Ella's call had completely dissipated.
Evelyn possessed a gentle disposition, exhibiting a capacity for rational discourse and the discernment of moral values.
The crux of the matter lay in her upbringing within a family that markedly favored male offspring, relegating girls to mere instruments for familial alliances.

Ella was so angry after Luna hung up on her that she almost smashed her phone.
But thinking about the cost of a new phone, she held back with a dark expression.
"Mom, did you hear that? That little bitch dares to insult me now!”
"Who's she even staying with? Is she some guy's side piece? No respectable family would take her in! And she's dragging around a handicapped brother too!"
Ella couldn't stand the thought of her relatives living better than her.
Alice was also furious.
"Weren't you going to the TV station for mediation? Hurry up and go! I'm ready to spill everything this time!"
Alice had heard what Luna said too.
Alice thought Luna didn't know about those things because she was too young to remember!
But it turned out Luna's mother had told her everything!
However, those things were now impossible to prove! It's not like Luna's word was law!
"Mom, you don't know how hard it is! No one is paying attention to me."
Ella looked troubled and resentful.
"Aren't those TV mediator shows all over a story like this? A disrespectful granddaughter, snatching from her aunt, and now shacking up with a dude."
"But after making the rounds, everyone initially agreed but later said they couldn't fit it into their schedule."
Alice was furious when she heard it couldn't be done and started cursing.
"Why are they ignoring you? Because they just want benefits! Do they think I don't know how these things work?"
"Mom, do you think that little bitch has found some backing? Or maybe she knows her true background?"
As soon as Ella said this, Alice immediately signaled her to lower her voice. After making sure the door was locked, she spoke mysteriously.
"When we took in your oldest brother, only your father, you, and I were in the loop. Now that your old man's long gone, it's just us two who hold that secret. That brat would never imagine her father's not a true Brown.!"
After Alice finished speaking, a hint of guilt and resentment flashed in her eyes.
