Chapter 159 Marriage Alliance of the Wealthy Families
"Stop her."
Charles hung up. Luckily, Luna was on a call with Summer and didn't notice.
Meanwhile, Evelyn was almost at Luna's hospital room when a young guy bumped into her, causing the fruit basket she was carrying to crash to the ground.
"Sorry, let me help," the young man said with an apologetic tone.
Evelyn was annoyed but couldn't stay mad since he apologized.
As she bent to pick up the basket, Charles slipped out and took the other staircase.
The young guy, one of Charles's bodyguards, blocked her view.
By the time he handed back the basket, she only saw Charles's disappearing figure.
Evelyn was puzzled.
Was that Charlie? But why would he be here? He should be at the Lee Group having a meeting at this time. After all, he has a fixed early meeting every Friday.
She shrugged it off, mainly because she hadn't seen Charles in a long time and wasn't sure if it was him.
Inside, Luna had just hung up and invited her to sit.
"My room's simple, but at least it's private," Luna said, handing her a bottle of water.
Evelyn pointed to the fruit basket and supplements she brought.
"I wanted to bring more, but I couldn't carry it all. These supplements were for my parents, but they can't finish them. Just do me a favor and take them. If you don't take them, I'll go buy new ones."
Evelyn cut off Luna's refusal.
She could tell the supplements were fresh.
"Then when I'm out, I'll treat you to a big meal," Luna smiled, noticing Evelyn's dry skin and red spots.
"Are you allergic?" Luna asked.
Evelyn nodded. "Yeah, seasonal allergies."
"I used to have that. Emily gave me a great remedy. I'll send it to you. It's all common herbs."
"Really? That'd be awesome! I've tried so many products, but it happens every year."
Evelyn was tired of her skin allergies.
"This remedy might not be perfect, but it helps keep your skin stable."
"Okay, I'll try it! But not now."
Evelyn's enthusiasm faded, puzzling Luna.
"Why not now?"
Evelyn's face darkened. "There's a banquet at the Nelson family tonight. All the granddaughters have to attend. People from Starglade City are coming, mainly the second and third heirs to choose a bride. The first heir is supposed to marry someone from a company like the Lee Group, so the Nelson family aren't involved in that."
Evelyn didn't want to cure her face too quickly and be chosen. She hoped her allergy would get worse tonight.
"High-society marriage," Luna said, shaking her head. Such things were far from her life.
"Yeah, but it's not just the Nelson family's backers. Other prominent families will be there too. So, it's gonna be pretty lively tonight. I heard the Blackwood family will be there, and I saw Summer's name on the invite list."
