Chapter 19 Coveting His Body
The atmosphere in the conference room was oppressive and somber.
Charles' phone rang again.
It wasn't a call but a Facebook notification.
Because he was in a meeting, he had just hung up on Luna. He thought she might don't have anything urgent , so he planned to call her back after the meeting.
When he opened Facebook, he saw a photo sent by Mike Baker.
In the photo, Luna was smiling brightly at a young man, even playfully hitting his shoulder, looking very flirtatious.
The man had his back to the camera, so his face wasn't visible, but he was dressed casually, tall and upright. He looked about the same age as her.
Charles sneered inwardly.
'Luna! You really know how to act!
You throw tantrums and act all high and mighty with me, even slamming doors , but you smile so brightly at other men!'Charles thought.
"Stop!"
Charles suddenly spoke, got up with his phone, and walked out of the conference room, leaving a group of bewildered executives behind.
He went to the hallway and called Luna back.
Luna was already sitting in Warren's car. Seeing the caller ID, she gestured to Warren to keep quiet.
Warren glanced at Luna's phone screen. The contact name she had for Charles was arrogance .
Warren looked at it twice, feeling inexplicably uneasy.
"Charles, what's up?"
The call connected, and Luna's voice was businesslike.
"Where are you? I'm coming back tonight!"
Hearing her voice and recalling the photo of her smiling at that man, Charles felt it was ironic.
How good was this woman at acting?
"I'm on a task right now, not sure what time I'll be back tonight."
As soon as Luna finished speaking, Charles sneered, "A task? Don't forget you're a married woman now!"
Charles hung up without hesitation.
She wouldn't tell the truth, and he couldn't be bothered to expose her! Anyway, in a month, if she didn't meet his requirements, he would let her go!
Luna was left baffled by Charles' call.
Warren, sensing something was wrong, asked softly, "Luna, what's going on? Who is this 'arrogance '?"
He had only been away from Bright City for a year. So someone was pestering Luna?
Rubbing her temples, Luna had only planned to tell Summer Blackwood, Warren's sister and her best friend, about her marriage.
But knowing Summer's personality, she would definitely tell Warren. After all, the three of them had often played together when they were kids. And Summer always treated her like a little sister.
"Warren, actually, I have a not-so-secret secret. Since you're like a brother to me, I'll tell you. I'm married. 'Arrogance' is my husband's contact name."
A sharp braking sound rang out as Warren slammed on the brakes, nearly hitting the curb.
Luckily, Luna was wearing her seatbelt, or she would have hit her head.
Warren turned his head, his face slightly pale, looking at her with a mix of shock and hurt.
But Luna only perceived that he was shocked.
"Luna, don't joke with me. Today it's not April Fool's Day."
Warren's voice was hoarse.
Luna gave a bitter smile, "Would I joke about something like this? I'm truly married. I'll explain the details later. Weren't we going to change clothes for the dinner party? Let's go."
Luna's tone was calm. After a day of adjusting her mindset, she had accepted the fact that she was married.
But Warren couldn't accept it!
In college, if it weren't for Luna and Summer, he would have gone down the wrong path.
It was them who woke him up!
Warren then found his future goal.
Since then, he had secretly loved Luna, thinking he finally had a chance to pursue her formally when he was back, but who knew...
