Chapter 39 Can You Help Me Persuade Luna?

Eric looked at Charles with an innocent expression.

His eyes encouraged him.

Charles found Eric's behavior childish and beneath contempt.

He straightened up and looked at Luna.

"What do you want to say?" Luna's tone was indifferent.

"...About yesterday, um... I shouldn't have said that. You can stay, or you can leave. It's up to you."

Charles had controlled his emotions well, but he still stumbled over his words.

After all, it was his first time!

Hopefully, there wouldn't be a second time!

Luna looked at him and inquired softly, "Are you apologizing?"

Charles frowned  hard and retorted,"I'm not apologizing. I'm just stating my position."

Luna rolled her eyes speechlessly.

Charles just wouldn't admit he was wrong?

"Sis, Charles said he would give me a multifunctional drawing board. Is that okay? I'll just use it for a few days, and when we move, I'll leave it behind."

Although Eric was more mature than his peers, he was still a teenager. His  longing for the board was written all over his face.

Luna looked at Eric, who was bathed in the warm noon sunlight, wrapped in a faint golden glow that made him look warm and healing.

When they lived at their aunt's house, the siblings stayed on a west-facing balcony, which was used for drying clothes and storing their aunt's miscellaneous items.

Eric had never seen sunlight before noon.

When they lived with their parents, it was a small house in the city center waiting to be demolished, only 200 square feet, housing the four of them.

Their handy father built them a loft bed, where Eric often slept on the top bunk.

But in  summer, it was as hot as a steamer, he could only sleep on the floor downstairs.

Luna had her own room with small window , making it stuffy in the summer and cold in the winter.

Their parents slept on a sofa bed in the living room, which wasn't much better.

The small house was a public housing unit allocated by their father's workplace. When the factory went bankrupt, no one managed the place. Although a developer took over the land, they couldn't agree on compensation with the factory, so the demolition stopped halfway.

It's been four years now.

Otherwise, Luna and Eric would at least have a place to stay.

It wasn't even an unfinished building; those typically have foundations and floors. This place had neither.

This environment was indeed better for Eric, with good sunlight and more space.

Eric shouldn't be criticized just because his wheelchair bumps into furniture.

Even if it was just for a month, it would be a beautiful memory for him.

Charles and Eric were both waiting for Luna to decide.

"Okay, we'll stay."

Upon Luna's saying, Eric's face lit up with pure happiness.

Outwardly composed, Charles couldn't help but feel a surge of relief.

"Charles, the fridge is totally empty, wanna come grocery shopping with me? I'm planning to cook more from now on and can't carry everything by myself.."

Luna had ordered takeout for Eric this morning. To save money, she didn't eat breakfast and only ordered one portion. But Eric was considerate and saved half for her.

The siblings shared a portion of pasta.

"Sure, I'm off today."

"Then I'll cook lunch when we get back. You can eat at home too."

Luna wasn't stingy. Even if she bought the groceries, she would still cook for Charles.

"Can you cook?" Charles looked hesitant, doubting her skills.

"You'll know at lunch!"

Luna raised her head slightly. She indeed had a talent for cooking!

Inviting Charles would be a bold move, but she was confident she could handle any criticism he might have.

"Can we bring Eric along?"

Luna wanted Eric to get more fresh air. Even if he was just sitting in a wheelchair, it was better than being cooped up at home.

"Sure, he's much cuter and more polite than you."

Charles agreed but couldn't resist teasing Luna.

Luna was so angry that she clenched her fist behind his back. As Charles turned around, he accidentally bumped into her.

Charles instinctively reached out, intending to grab her, but his hand landed on her waist instead.
