Chapter 70 A Sudden Enlightenment
Luna's words gradually calmed the originally frantic Evelyn.
She vaguely remembered that when she started the car, someone was walking by the roadside, and she almost hit them.
"Ms. Neleson, you won't always dodge a bullet like this. Just so you're aware, in the city, a crash at 85 mph can be lights out!!"
"Your love is your life, but isn't someone else's life just as precious to them? I don't mean to criticize or mock your pursuit of love."
"I just think that while you're chasing love, please maintain basic calmness and pay attention to safety. It's responsible for you and for the innocent people on the road."
After Luna finished speaking, she handed the car keys to Evelyn.
Evelyn was already in tears.
"Luna, do you think I'm sick? I feel like I'm ill, but I don't have the courage to see a psychologist."
"Back in the day, when I pulled a stunt like that, my grandparents would give me a piece of their mind, my uncles would tease me, and my parents, swamped with looking after my siblings, would simply hand me some cash, urging me to jet off overseas for a breather."
"You're the only one willing to say these things to me. I know I'm wrong, but I can't help it..."
Evelyn covered her face and cried helplessly.
Luna didn't stop her and she let Evelyn vent her emotions.
Crying was also a form of release.
When Evelyn was tired of crying, Luna patted her and said softly, "Your brave pursuit of love is actually admirable. After all, it takes a lot of courage for a woman to chase a man."
"While I've never been in a relationship, I get that love goes both ways! It takes time and patience. You don't need to make it a big show for the whole world to see."
"He even refused to get out of the car to see you. I think he really dislikes this way of pursuing him. The more you do this, the more he will reject you!"
Luna's words were like a wake-up call for Evelyn.
Evelyn wasn't typically one to act impulsively or recklessly. It was simply because Charlie had been her high school crush, and it was not until college that she gathered the courage to declare her feelings for him.
She also knew that her cousins were waiting to see her make a fool of herself, so once she started, there was no turning back.
"Thank you, Luna. In the Neleson family, no one has ever said these things to me. They would just bluntly judge me as wrong, but they never took the time to tell me why I was wrong or what the consequences would be if I still pursue Charlie."
"Today, I indeed did something wrong and almost caused harm to myself and others! If it weren't for you stopping me, I might have made a huge mistake."
Having regained her composure, Evelyn came to the realization that if Luna hadn't intervened, she might have impulsively driven away. Given her average driving abilities, an accident would have been all too probable.
If she had hit someone and ended up in jail, she would have no future. She would also implicate the innocent!
She now felt a sudden fear and couldn't help but shiver.
"Ms. Neleson, you should go home and rest well today. There will be plenty of opportunities and time to pursue your dream guy, but don't be so impulsive in the future. If you want to treat me to a meal, you can do so anytime."
Luna smiled at Evelyn. Then Evelyn also showed a heartfelt smile.
"Luna, can I come to you if I can't figure things out in the future? I hope you won't find me annoying."
Evelyn wiped away her tears and showed a sincere smile.
Luna was about to agree when her phone suddenly rang.
Luna saw it was an unknown number and answered it, only to be met with a barrage of nasty curses from the other end.
