Chapter 53 She might have a heart attack? What a joke
Inside the house, the floor was a mess, the coffee table and the dining table were out of place, and the chairs were all toppled over.
Emily was sitting on the floor, her hair disheveled.
The child was crying on the couch, and she seemed to have lost her hearing.
The Hills stood in front of her, pointing Emily and constantly scolding her.
Seeing this scene, Luna and Summer were about to explode with anger.
"Emily! Do you want us to call the police for you?"
Summer kicked the door open and shouted loudly.
Luna followed her in, walked over to Emily, and pulled her up from the floor, making her sit on the couch.
"Don't sit on the floor, it's chilly. Strangers don't give a hoot, but we, your sisters, got your back! Remember, self-care first!!"
Luna's words had a double meaning.
The Hills' faces burned with embarrassment.
"Emily, you've got family! My six brothers will be here in a heartbeat if you need 'em. Your problems are their problems. This place might be a tight squeeze though !"
Summer felt both heartbroken and angry seeing Emily like this.
Before getting married, Emily was the apple of her parents' eye, living a life of comfort, but now?
Her loungewear was pilling. There was baby spit-up on her chest and her socks had holes showing her toes. Her face was sallow and she was physically bloated.
In just one year of marriage, she had become unrecognizable to Summer.
Luna was also deeply pained.
Since Emily got married and pregnant, they had rarely seen each other.
Initially, Emily battled intense morning sickness, then she juggled baby duties. With no babysitter in sight, stepping out became a luxury.
Moreover, the Hills had to take care of their younger son's family of three and didn't help her with the baby at all.
Emily's familial estrangement due to her union with Bobby left her vulnerable to the Hills' unabashed bullying tactics.
On the couch, Emily's one-year-old son Tommy let out a piercing cry.
Only then did David pretend to pick up the child to soothe him.
But the child didn't want to go to himat all and reached out to Emily instead.
Wendy, previously subjected to Luna and Summer's scornful taunts, now bore a countenance reflecting a myriad of emotions.
Wendy's mouth twitched as she put on a kind grandmotherly demeanor, clutching her chest as she sat on the couch.
"I've had a heart attack because of your issues! Emily, can't you pity me a little? Stop fighting with Bobby!"
"He's swamped with work daily, and you're still trashing the house! Are you trying to drive me crazy? Now that your buddies are here, let them knock some sense into you! I'm done trying to talk sense into you.!"
"What have the Hills ever done to you? We foot the bill for everything around here! When you got hitched, not a single soul from your side bothered to show up! Did we blame you??"
"Look at what you've become now! Bobby smacked you today, but you pushed his buttons! You two... Please talk some sense into her."
Wendy's words instantly pushed Luna and Summer to their limits.
She was simply absurd.
Just a moment ago, Wendy was arrogantly blaming Emily, and now that they were here, she was pretending to be weak!
With her physique, she could do Pamela Reif workouts for three hours straight!
She would have a heart attack?
What a joke!
Luna signaled Summer to stay calm with her eyes.
It seemed Bobby had left after hitting her. They needed to calm Emily down first and wait for Bobby to come back to deal with him.
"Emily, let's go to your room first. Calm down, make a call to have Bobby come back and talk things out."
As soon as Luna finished speaking, Wendy immediately chimed in, "Yep, call Bobby and apologize to him! Be nice, and we can put in a good word for you."
Luna was floored.
Summer too, thinking,' Apologize? That's never going to happen!'
