Chapter 35 Meeting Zack Again
Eric heard the sound, smiled at Charles, and whispered, "Charles, don't laugh at me. I just want to look at the telescope a bit longer. because I want to get my fill this time."
"I won't have many chances in the future. But you don't need to pity me, because there are many people worse off than me with this illness."
"Some kids die at seven or eight years old. I'm lucky enough. Although I can't bear to part with such a good telescope, Luna is the most important to me."
"I'll look a bit longer tonight, and tomorrow morning I won't have any regrets."
Eric's words inexplicably struck a chord with Charles for a moment.
The calmer Eric's tone was, the more it shocked Charles.
Charles remembered when his grandfather was sick, countless experts consulted, and there were endless meetings every day. The experts would come up with the best surgical plans.
Three meals a day were nutritionally balanced, and there were three dedicated caregivers to take care of his grandfather.
Hisgrandfather lived in a private hospital where an entire floor was reserved, just like being at home.
Charles had never encountered a situation like Luna and Eric's.
They were relying on each other, growing up with effort. And they were detached.
"Do you also think I was... overreactedjust now?"Charles asked Eric impulsively.
He felt that his tone earlier was indeed a bit sharp.
He hadn't considered Luna's perspective much.
Eric shrugged.
"Actually, if Luna are like you said, she would have thrown me into a nursing home to fend for myself long ago."
"She really resisted dating, and she wouldn't rely on anyone! She used to do part-time handicrafts to support me, her ten fingers almost worn out, but she just wrapped them in tape and continued. She couldn't even use her fingerprints in class.“
"She stayed up late to study for scholarships, drinking five packs of strong coffee a day when she was most exhausted. When coffee stopped working, she just poured coffee powder directly into her mouth and swallowed it with some water.”
"I'm not telling you this to make you think Luna is great, but to tell you that you were really wrong!"
"But everyone makes mistakes. Because you're not God, but you need to apologize to her."
After saying this, Eric turned back to the telescope.
Charles didn't say anything.
Apologize? No way!
Charles was also full of anger. He didn't want to stay here any longer this night, so he put on his shoes and prepared to leave.
Looking up, he saw a men's coat hanging on the hook by the door. He didn't know where his anger came from. He grabbed it and threw it out the door.
'This coat belonged to Warren!'
'She kept it and didn't return it. Isn't that ambiguous?'
'She still thinks she's right!'Charles thought.
Charles closed the door and left, leaving Warren's coat lying quietly outside.
On the balcony, Eric looked at the moon through the telescope.
The moon's surface was uneven. If there were aliens there, could they cure his illness?
Then Luna wouldn't have to work so hard.
The next morning, Luna got up, and Eric was still sleeping.
She wanted to wait for Eric to wake up before leaving, so she wanted to ask Joah for a leave.
But before she could call, Joah called her.
"Luna, your grandma is here, right at the police station entrance, insisting on seeing you. I told her you were transferred, but she wouldn't leave. She is still causing a scene."
Joah's voice was serious.
Luna felt her brain buzz, and the next moment she was shaking with anger.
Alice was best at cursing shamelessly.
Her second and third aunts had both been cursed by her. Her mother had experienced it before too.
But compared to her aunts, her mother was tougher. Her grandma couldn't get the better of her, so she didn't dare provoke her again.
But such tactics were often played out by Alice at home.
