Chapter 226 If Possible, Who Would Want to Be So Embarrassed

Danniel walked over to find Emily frantically searching for her phone, her face flushed with frustration.

She remembered bringing her phone with her, but now she couldn't find it.

"Here's your phone."

Danniel handed the phone to Emily.

Emily was on the verge of tears, trying hard to hold them back.

Seeing the phone being handed to her, she sniffled and said hoarsely, "Thank you. It must have fallen in your car. Sorry for the trouble."

"You should call another family member to come help," Danniel suggested, worried about Emily's child.

The child in her arms was adorably chubby, but it was a pity that both parents seemed so unreliable.

Emily gave a bitter smile at Danniel's words, "If circumstances allowed, who would want to be in such a mess?"

Danniel frowned, "Then you shouldn't have had a child in the first place. If you can't take care of him, why let him suffer?"

Danniel's words made Emily unable to hold back her tears any longer. She turned away quickly to wipe them, repeatedly reminding herself not to cry. Straightening her back, she carried Tommy to the registration desk.

She wanted to tell him that unless he had experienced her hardships, he shouldn't judge her.

But he had just helped her, and he didn't know her situation. Emily wasn't the type to spill her family troubles to everyone she met.

She had learned to bear everything on her own.

She was an adult and Tommy's mother. After deciding to divorce, this was the path she had to take. She would face many misunderstandings and doubts in the future, and she had to learn to handle them herself.

Danniel didn't like meddling in other people's affairs. He glanced at Emily's stubborn back and then turned to leave.

At ten o'clock that night, Tommy had finished his IV and was asleep in Emily's arms.

Emily limped out, carrying him.

Only then did she notice the burning pain in her ankle.

She struggled to move and was about to hail a cab when she saw a familiar-looking car at the hospital entrance.

She walked around the car, realizing it looked a lot like the one the kind stranger had driven her in.

The car's unique misty blue color was rare.

"Why are you here again?"

Emily was peering into the car to see if Danniel was inside when she heard his cold voice behind her.

She immediately straightened up and turned to face him.

"Hello, is this really your car? Why haven't you left yet?"

Emily stammered.

Did she look like a thief peeking into the car? She felt embarrassed.

"My tire got punctured. I didn't feel like changing it myself, so I had dinner nearby and called a mechanic. He just told me it's fixed."

Danniel finished speaking and was about to get into the car.

Emily quickly stepped aside to make way for him.

"Um... was the tire punctured because you drove us here?" Emily asked tentatively.

Danniel, already in the driver's seat, raised an eyebrow and glanced at her.

"Sort of. The road conditions around here are bad because of construction."

Danniel wasn't one to lie, and he saw no need to deceive a woman he had just met, so he told the truth.

Emily felt even more guilty.

"I'm sorry, sir. How much did the tire cost? I'll transfer the money to you."

Emily said, opening her phone to scan Danniel's payment code.

Seeing her serious expression, Danniel placed his hands on the steering wheel, his face indifferent.

This woman really dared to ask!

Didn't she know what kind of car he drove?

The tire was basically ruined, and he had replaced it with a new one.

"I replaced it with a new tire. It cost $2,500."

Danniel's words made Emily gasp.

She moved closer to Danniel's car to check the brand.

She had been too focused on taking care of Tommy to notice what kind of car she had ridden in.

Now, seeing the car's emblem, Emily was stunned.
